SIMPLE MINDS, BANANARAMA and EDDI READER will all play this year's Isle Of Wight Festival, on a bill that also includes ULTRAVOX and THE PIXIES.

BELINDA CARLISLE will release a remastered and expanded edition of her 1987 album 'Heaven On Earth' on May 4th. The new edition will include a CD of the original album alongside a selection of bonus tracks as well as a live DVD featuring a 1988 concert previously only available on VHS. Belinda Carlisle will release a career-spanning compilation later this year which will include a number of new tracks. See NEWS for the full album tracklisting.

SPANDAU BALLET have announced a third show at London's O2 Arena on October 22nd and a second Birmingham show at the LG Arena on October 25th. The band have also announced a show at Liverpool's Echo Arena on October 29th. See GIGS on the website for the full tour schedule.

JIMMY SOMERVILLE will release a new album, 'Suddenly Last Summer', in May as a digital-only release featuring eleven tracks and two videos.

THE B-52s have announed a run of US dates for June, July and August. See GIGS for all the dates.

DEPECHE MODE have announced a second London show at the O2 Arena on December 16th. The band have also revealed that they were offered a headline spot at this year's Glastonbury Festival but turned it down on the grounds that 'the line-up didn’t quite work for us' according to the group's ANDY FLETCHER.

MARC ALMOND fans will have the chance to bid for a special piece of artwork created by Val Denham, the artist responsible for some of Marc's most iconic record sleeves, at the forthcoming Marc Almond Convention which will take place at Birmingham's The Flapper on May 9th. GARY NUMAN will play a special show at Manchester Academy on November 21st to mark the 30th anniversary of his album 'The Pleasure Principle'. Further shows dedicated to the album may be announced shortly.

ULTRAVOX will release a new compilation 'The Very Best of Ultravox' on April 6th in a 2-disc CD/DVD edition, featuring eighteen digitally remastered audio tracks and seventeen videos, to coincide with their upcoming reunion tour. See NEWS on the website for the full tracklisting.

DURAN DURAN are to play a one-off US show at the Orange Country Fair in California on July 11th. SMOKEY ROBINSON, THE B-52s and WHITESNAKE will also appear.

TEARS FOR FEARS mainman CURT SMITH will play a solo show at Santa Monica's McCabe's on May 16th.

BILLY OCEAN has released a new album - his first for fifteen years - entitled 'Because I Love You' which he is promoting with a single of the same name.

LEVEL 42 will see two of their catalogue albums - 'Guaranteed' and 'Forever Now' - reissued on May 4th. Both albums will be released as 2-CD editions, each featuring remixes, alternate versions, non-album tracks and live versions. See NEWS for the full tracklisting of both albums.

THE STRANGLERS have joined the line-up of this summer's Guilfest, alongside a bill that will also feature MOTORHEAD and HAPPY MONDAYS. Guilfest will take place over the weekend of July 10th to 12th.

AEROSMITH and ZZ TOP have announced that they are to tour together this summer in the US and have announced the first three shows in what is expected to be a full tour. See GIGS for all the dates.

MADNESS will play a series of free secret gigs around the Camden Town area of London on April 24th, as part of the annual Camden Crawl events, in support of their new album 'The Liberty Of Norton Folgate' which is released on May 18, preceded by a single 'Dust Devil' on May 11th. Meanwhile THE POGUES will join Madness on the bill of the forthcoming Madstock Festival which takes place in London's Victoria Park on July 17th...

CRAZY PINK REVOLVERS, the band formed in 1986 by SPEAR OF DESTINY bassist STAN STAMMERS, will reissue their 'First Down' album this week in a remastered, expanded edition. This release will be the first time the album has been available on CD. See NEWS for the album tracklisting.

SONIA will celebrate twenty-years in music with the release of a new single, 'Fool For Love', on May 25th.

DEAD OR ALIVE, JOY DIVISION, U2 and SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES are among iconic artists featured in a forthcoming photography exhibition that is set to start at Liverpool's National Conservation Centre on May 1st. The exhibition of photographs by Francesco Mellina features sixty images - most previously unseen - photographed in Liverpool between 1978 and 1982 and will run until the end of August.

THOMAS DOLBY will release expanded editions of his best know albums 'The Golden Age Of Wireless' and 'The Flat Earth' on June 8th in the wake of the release of a CD/DVD compilation 'The Singular Thomas Dolby' on May 4th.

BERLIN will play a special show at LA's House Of Blues on April 4th which will be filmed for a live CD and DVD for release in June.

HOWARD JONES will premiere his forthcoming new album 'Ordinary Heroes' at a trio of showcase concerts around the UK in November. The shows will take place in London, Manchester and Cardiff and will each feature 'Ordinary Heroes' in its entirety, performed with a string quartet and, in Cardiff only, a 90-voice choir. A-HA have announced shows in Norway and Germany in support of their forthcoming new album 'Foot of the Mountain' which will be released in June, preceded by a single of the same name in May. See GIGS for all the dates announced so far.

JODY WATLEY will headline the VIP stage at Chicago's North Halsted Market Days Fair on August 2nd... other artists appearing at the event include En Vogue and CeCe Peniston.

MARC ALMOND has announced a short tour to coincide with the forthcoming release of his new album 'Orpheus In Exile'. The album will be released in September with dates following it in October and November. See GIGS for all the dates.

DEPECHE MODE's next single release will be 'Peace' from their new album 'Sounds Of The Universe'. 'Peace' will be released as a single on June 15th with the formats and tracklistings to be announced shortly.

THE LIGHTNING SEEDS and FAIRGROUND ATTRACTION's EDDI READER have joined the bill of the forthcoming Guilfest Festival which will take place in July. The acts will join a bill that includes THE STRANGLERS, MOTORHEAD and HAPPY MONDAYS.

THE HOUSEMARTINS will release a special 2CD edition version of their 1986 album 'London 0 Hull 4' on June 8th featuring a remastered version of the original album plus a twenty-two tracks disc of bonus material including alternate versions, b-sides, rehearsals and radio session tracks. CYNDI LAUPER's hit 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' and MURRAY HEAD's 'One Night in Bangkok' has been covered by The Killers for inclusion on a covers album, although the project is at a very early stage and there's no release date scheduled so far.

DURAN DURAN have announced more US summer shows with news of dates at San Francisco's Fillmore and Pearl at the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas in July. They are the final shows to be added to the band's short run of US shows, see NEWS for the dates.

JAKI GRAHAM will reissue her 1989 album 'From Now On' in an expanded edition this week. The download release includes a host of additional tracks included for the first time, including the 7" and 12" versions of 'No More Tears' and a Shep Pettibone mix of 'From Now On'. PET SHOP BOYS will release the second single from their 'Yes' album on June 1st. KAJAGOOGOO have announced a UK tour, their first tour since reuniting their original line-up and their first tour together for twenty-five years. The ten-date tour starts in September, see GIGS for all the dates.

CYNDI LAUPER has cancelled her summer dates in Europe according to reports. It is thought that the cancellations are due to the dates clashing with the filming of a new movie Lauper is appearing in. An official statmement about the shows is expected soon.

BLONDIE and PAT BENATAR have announced a joint US tour for the summer with dates announced for July and August with The Donnas as support. See GIGS for all the dates.

NICK HEYWARD will play a Christmas show 'An evening of Christmas Presence' on December 12th at the Cadogan Hall in London.

SPANDAU BALLET have announced another European show at Brussels' Forest National on November 3rd. See GIGS for all their dates.

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS have joined the bill of the forthcoming Electric Picnic festival in Ireland alongside a host of acts including ABC, MADNESS, THE SUGARHILL GANG and ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN.

SIOUXSIE SIOUX will make her first DJ appearance at the Circus clubnight at Matter at London's O2 on July 4th, as part of the Pride London celebrations. Also on the bill are Frankmusic and Kissy Sell Out among many others.

GARY NUMAN will join DURAN DURAN on the bill of the forthcoming Lovebox Festival in London on July 19th. Numan has also announced an appearance at Kent's Hevy Music Festival in August as well as DJ sets in Copenhagen, Middlesborough and Helsinki. See NEWS for more details.

DEF LEPPARD will release expanded editions of their classic 'Pyromania' and 'Adrenalize' albums on June 8th, with each album coming out as a double CD featuring the original album remastered plus a selection of live tracks, demos and b-sides. See NEWS for the full tracklisting for both albums.

ERASURE frontman ANDY BELL is currently working on his second solo album which will feature collaborations with JANE'S ADDICTION's PERRY FARRELL and THE B-52s' KATE PIERSON.

THE STONE ROSES will mark the twentieth anniversary of their classic 'Stone Roses' album with a special deluxe edition of the release in August. 'Stone Roses: Special Edition' will feature the original album in a remastered edition alongside a bonus CD containing fifteen demo tracks including a previously unreleased track 'Pearl Bastard', and a live DVD of a 1989 Blackpool concert.

GLORIA ESTEFAN's recent farewell show in Buenos Aires has been reviewed in the REVIEWS section.

REM are to reissue their album 'Reckoning' in the US as a special 2-CD set in June. The release will feature a remastered edition of the original album plus live tracks recorded in Chicago in 1984 including eight of the tracks from 'Reckoning' as well as versions of 'Gardening At Night', '9-9. Sitting Still', 'Hyena', 'Driver 8' and 'Radio Free Europe'.

PAUL WELLER will play a one-off show at Cornwall's The Eden Project on July 10th in support of Prince Charles' The Prince's Rainforests Project. Weller will also release an album 'Paul Weller At The BBC' in November.

ULTRAVOX, THE CURE, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, THE HUMAN LEAGUE and OMD are all featured on the soundtrack to the new film 'Awaydays' which is released on May 25th. The film, set in Liverpool at the end of the seventies, is based on Kevin Sampson's novel of the same name and 'examines identity, fate, the nature of male longings and their need to belong'. THE POLICE will play an open-air show in Northern Ireland on June 20th and drummer STEWART COPELAND has refused to rule out the possibility of more shows in the future...

ALI CAMPBELL will release his third solo album 'Flying High' in June, his first since album release since leaving UB40. MICHAEL JACKSON has delayed the start of his 'This Is It' comeback shows at London's O2 Arena with the announcement that the first four shows are to be postponed due to 'production problems'. The opening show has now been pushed back from July 8 to July 13 and the following three shows will now take place in March 2010...

ABC's MARTIN FRY, SPANDAU BALLET's TONY HADLEY and GO WEST's PETER COX will host BFBS Radio's forthcoming Rewind Day which will feature each artist playing DJ for two hours each to play a combination of eighties tunes, classic influences and current favourites. Rewind Day will take place this Monday May 25th and you can listen online, see NEWS for all the details.

ERASURE frontman VINCE CLARKE has received the Outstanding Song Collection award at this week's Ivor Novello awards ceremony in London. Erasure meanwhile have annoucned that they will release a remastered edition of their classic 1988 album 'The Innocents' later this year.

PET SHOP BOYS are to play a one-off free gig at London's Matter in July, the show will also see a set from Little Boots and DJ sets from Hot Chip and Tom Middleton. See NEWS for more details.

SPANDAU BALLET are making a full length documentary film which will cover the band's entire career according to songwriter GARY KEMP who has said 'It will be a feature-length documentary with us talking about everything that's happened over the years. FIVE STAR have announced that they will be reuniting their original five-piece line-up for a tour later this year. Dates are expected to be announced shortly.

HEAVEN 17 are no longer appearing on the bill of the forthcoming Regeneration Tour in the USA, citing 'financial considerations' as the reason. THE UNDERTONES are to reissue their 'Hypnotised' album on June 8th in a deluxe edition featuring the original album and a further seven bonus tracks.

MORRISSEY has rescheduled the two UK dates he was forced to postpone due to illness last week and will now play the shows, in London and Birmingham, in October. A-HA have changed the UK release dates for their upcoming single and album. The single 'Foot of the Mountain' will now be released on July 13th with the album of the same name following on July 20th. Meanwhile the single has just been released in Germany where it entered to charts at number three, the band's highest single entry there since 'Take On Me'. The band will also appear at tonight's Arqiva Commercial Radio Awards in London...

SADE is working on a new album - her first since 2000's 'Lovers Rock' - which may be ready for release by the end of the year according to reports...

BUCKS FIZZ have announced a set of reunion dates in addition to their appearances on the HERE AND NOW summer shows. Billed as The Original Bucks Fizz the line-up will feature Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston the shows take place around the country throughout October, see GIGS for details.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE are to play Ben and Jerry's Sundae on the Common in London on July 26th, headlining a bill that will also include sets from Futureheads and Camera Obscura.

WHITNEY HOUSTON has announced that she is to release a new album her first since 2002 - on September 1st. The currently untitled album is expected to include collaborations with will.i.am, Sean Garrett and Akon.

MARIAH CAREY will release here new studio album 'Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel' on August 25th preceded by a single entitled 'Obsessed'.

BANANARAMA will release a new single in August. The track, 'Love Comes', was written by Bananarama and produced by Ian Masterson and the duo performed the song live for the first time at last weekend's Isle Of Wight Festival.

THE SPECIALS have announced that they are to play a winter tour which will see the newly reformed band play fourteen shows around the UK in November, including three nights at London's Hammersmith Apollo. See GIGS for all the dates.

NINE INCH NAILS are thought to be on their last ever tour, following remarks made by frontman TRENT REZNOR at the US Bonnaroo Festival at the weekend stating that the show would be the band's last ever gig in the US. Reznor also stated that the band would continue to make music.

FAITH NO MORE will headline the NME/Radio 1 stage at this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals on August 28th and 30th respectively.

DAVID SYLVIAN will release 'Manafon', a new studio album, in September.

SPANDAU BALLET are said to have signed a new record deal are planning an acoustic album of their greatest hits which will be released to coincide with their upcoming reunion tour. KIRSTY MACCOLL's duet with THE POGUES, 'Fairytale Of New York', is the most downloaded 80s track of the last five years in the UK according to a recent report, having been downloaded almost 300,000 times. ABBA will be celebrated at a special concert in London's Hyde Park on September 13th. The event 'Thank You For The Music... A Celebration Of The Music Of Abba' will feature ABBA's Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus performing the band's hits with a selection of guest vocalists.

DEPECHE MODE have rescheduled more of the dates they were forced to cancel as a result of singer DAVE GAHAN's recent emergency surgery. The shows originally scheduled in Zagreb, London and Dusseldorf in May and June will now take place in February. See GIGS for all the dates.

ALISON MOYET has announced a very special tour for November and December that will see her celebrate her 25th anniversary as a solo performer with twenty-six shows across the UK. ERASURE will release a six-track EP of classic remixes entitled 'Erasure.Club' on August 10th. The mixes were released to clubs on a series of promo-only 12" singles in 1990 and have not been commercially released before. The release includes versions of the singles 'Ship Of Fools' and 'Sometimes' among the six mixes and is available for pre-order with a special Erasure t-shirt at the band's official online shop.

MICHAEL JACKSON will be the subject of a special tribute edition of Smash Hits magazine which is published this week. The publication will be the first edition of Smash Hits to come out since the magazine folded in 2006 and will feature Michael Jackson content from their archives and will include original interviews, news reports and posters. The singer was also reportedly working on two albums prior to his death last week, a pop album with songwriter Claude Kelly and Akon, and an instrumental classical album. It is thought that both albums will receive some sort of release...

NEW ORDER's BERNARD SUMNER and STEPHEN MORRIS's new project Bad Lieutenant will release its first single 'Sink Or Swim' on September 21st with an album, 'Never Cry Another Tear' to follow on October 5th.

A-HA are planning to expand their forthcoming European tour and play a show in Japan before Christmas and then tour play Australia in January followed by concerts in the USA, Canada and South America in March before returning to Europe in May and June to play a number of festivals.

DURAN DURAN's much anticipated DVD/CD release 'Duran Duran - Live In Hammersmith '82' and their 2-CD special edition of their 'Rio' album will both be released on September 7th. The live set will include the band's live set alongside Top Of The Pops performances and videos, while the 'Rio' release - which will also be available as a limited vinyl edition - will include the UK version of the album, the original US Harvest album remixes, demos, B-sides and remixes. LOVE AND ROCKETS are the subject of a new tribute album that will include versions of their songs interpreted by a number of artists including FRANK BLACK, The Flaming Lips and the Dandy Warhols. THE SPECIALS have added more dates to their winter tour of the UK and Ireland with the announcement of shows in Dublin and Belfast and at Liverpool Music Week.

RETROFEST have been forced to relocate this year's festival from Glasgow City Green to the grounds of Loudoun Castle Family Theme Park following 'an irrevocable breakdown in the relationship between the promoters of Retrofest and Glasgow City Council'. U2, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, STEVIE WONDER and METALLICA are among artists lined up for two special concerts at New York's Madison Square Gardens on October 29th and 30th to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

KAJAGOOGOO and LIMAHL will be the subject of a new retrospective from EMI which is to be released on September 7th. The album, which marks the recent reunion of the original line-up, will feature remastered versions of all Kajagoogoo's key tracks from 1983 to the present day alongside the best of Limahl's solo material and a DVD of previously unreleased footage of the band. Kajagoogoo will tour the UK in September, see NEWS for the album tracklisting and GIGS for all the dates.

MADONNA will release a new single on September 28th. The track, 'Celebration', will also be one of two new tracks to feature on a new Madonna compilation of the same name. The album will be available in single and double CD editions and a DVD featuring videos from across Madonna's career will be released at the same time.

HAYSI FANTAYZEE singer KATE GARNER is planning a return to music... with a little help from her friends. Garner has been working on new songs but is looking for sponsorship from friends and fans to record and release them and is offering a share of any profits from the project to anyone who supports her financially. Ongoing plans also include a number of remixes from Garner's former Haysi Fantayzee partner JEREMY HEALY. See NEWS for more details.

BEASTIE BOYS have been forced to delay plans to release and tour their new album following the news that mainman ADAM YAUCH needs surgery to remove a cancerous tumor was found in his left salivary gland last week. Yauch is expected to make a full recovery and more information about the album and tour will be available shortly.

A FLOCK OF SEAGULLS will play at the forthcoming Headliners Festival in London which takes place at various venues around the city on September 17th and 18th and also features sets from Doves, Esser, Frankmusic, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Biffy Clyro. BANANARAMA will play a seven-song live set at London club G-A-Y on September 12th which they will follow with a special signing session at the club. The duo will release a new single, 'Love Comes', on September 6th which will include a 2009 mix of their classic hit 'Cruel Summer'. The band have also put the new video for 'Love Comes' on YouTube.

NENA will release a new album 'Wir Sind Wahr' - her first collection of original material since 2005 - on September 25th. The release will be preceded by a new single on September 4th.

MODERN ROMANCE will play two festival shows in August with appearances at the New Quay Festival in Wales on August 2nd and the 'Cancer - Let's Beat It' event at Bulhorn Farm in Bridgwater on August 7th.

MICHAEL JACKSON's 'This Is It' film is set to be shown in cinemas around the world from October 30th. The film is drawn from rehearsal and behind the scenes footage from Jackson's planned 'This Is It' tour. Meanwhile JERMAINE JACKSON has announced that the long-awaited tribute concert planned to mark the passing of his brother will take place in Vienna on September 26th. More details are to be released shortly but the show is expected to feature around ten artists covering some of Michael Jackson's biggest hits.

MARI WILSON has lined up a handful of live dates for September including a two-date residency at the prestigious Pizza On The Park. See GIGS for all the dates.

MORRISSEY is to release all his singles from 1988 to 1995, complete with all b-sides, on a 3-CD set on October 12th. On the same date a limited-edition box set of 7" heavyweight vinyl singles will be released. The boxset will feature all Morrissey's single released between 1988 and 1991 with a second set covering 1991 to 1995 scheduled for release on November 2nd.

THE STRANGLERS, RICH KIDS, THE SKIDS and 999 are the first artists to have Peel Sessions released as part of new initiative between EMI and the BBC. The digital EPs will be released on September 14th and the series will continue until the end of the year with releases planned from GANG OF FOUR, THE SPECIALS, ULTRAVOX, THE SELECTER, and DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS. ULTRAVOX have announced German tour dates to take place in April next year. The recently reunited band have announced six shows so far... see GIGS for all the dates.

BON JOVI look likely to tour in 2010, to support their forthcoming November album 'The Circle', according to guitarist Richie Sambora who has said that the tour will 'go for a long time. It's going to be a big one'.

MADONNA has apparently announced the tracklisting for her forthcoming greatest hits collection 'Celebration' - which will also feature two new tracks 'Celebration' and 'Revolver' - which will be available as a standard single CD as well as a 2-CD edition. JOHNNY MARR - the former guitarist with THE SMITHS - will make a cameo appearance in the film adaptation of Kevin Sampson's 1999 novel 'Powder'. Meanwhile Marr is continuing to work with The Cribs who have a handful of UK dates scheduled for September.

TINA TURNER will release a live DVD/CD set entitled 'Tina Live' on September 28th. The release was filmed in Arnhem in March this year on the European leg of Tina's 50th anniversary tour. See NEWS for the full tracklisting.
