Thaiprog Podcast #4 : WurlitzerEnglish VersionRecorded by Agent Fox Mulder on 18 Jun 2011
My forth podcast, a year after third podcast. Lots of thing changed but I'm still holding the theme of keyboard instrument. This time I did the full version of "Wurlitzer electric piano". As it always my favourite. Anyway, this time I tried to talk less as I can to deliver the pure music without getting too much technical. Last week, I took time to create my wurlitzer playlist that will be used in this podcast and completed with around 17 tracks/ 80 minutes. And this is one of the reason that I couldn't talk much this time.
This podcast is quite long, about one and half hour. So I splited it into first half and second half, make it easier for downloading and listening. Also the podcast can be divided into three section. The first half includes two section,
"The Beginning" &
"Rock & Roll". The second half includes
"Ballads".
"The Beginning" contains only one song from legendary
Ray Charles. And a bit of introduction to the Wurlitzer piano. I take you back to 1959 with one of the very first song that features outstanding Wurlitzer piano performance. And this first moment makes everybody know the great Wurlitzer piano.
"Rock & Roll" is the section that features strong beat and overdriven sound of Wurlitzer tunes. 90% of them come from the seventies. The artist including
Faces, The Guess Who, Chicago, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Led Zeppelin and Gov't Mule."Ballads" represents warmer and mellow side of Wurlitzer piano. Although Fender Rhodes may sounds sweeter, but Wurlitzer is warmer, bluesier and smokier. The featured artists are
Alan Parsons Project, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Queen, Belle & Sebastian & Norah Jones.Hope you enjoy my podcast and thanks for listening.
