The Story of Wish You Were Here coming to BBC 4 TVWritten by Matt
Wednesday, 16 May 2012
Last month, we gave you details of the upcoming "Pink Floyd: The Story Of Wish You Were Here" Blu-ray and DVD. Released by Eagle Vision HD, the title is coming out on both formats on June 25th in the UK, and June 26th in North America. Other areas should follow suit around those dates.
Those of you in the UK (and parts of Europe) will get an abbreviated version of the documentary later this month, courtesy of BBC Four TV. They are showing a 60 minute edit of the 85 minute programme which will appear on DVD/Blu-ray. To recap, The Story Of Wish You Were Here tells about the making of this landmark release through new interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason and archive interviews with the late Richard Wright. Also featured are sleeve designer Storm Thorgerson, guest vocalist Roy Harper, front cover burning man Ronnie Rondell and others involved in the creation of the album. In addition, original recording engineer Brian Humphries revisits the master tapes at Abbey Road Studios to illustrate aspects of the songs construction. The DVD and blu-ray releases contain additional bonus material not featured in the TV broadcast version, including further interviews with Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, plus Roger and David performing excerpts from the Wish You Were Here album.
To catch the preview of this, tune in to BBC Four TV (available via Freeview, digital cable and satellite) on Friday, May 25th, at 9pm. There are two additional opportunities to see it, on Saturday, May 26th at 1am, and Sunday, May 27th at 11:40pm. Our thanks to Matthew Samuel for alerting us to this.
