ดีใจมากๆที่เห็นทั้ง 2 อัลบั้มของ The God Machine ติดอยู่ในลิสต์ ถ้าวงนี้ไม่ยุบไปเสียก่อนเพราะมือเบสเสียชีวิต ตอนนี้ต้องเป็นวง Alternative Goth Metal ชั้นแนวหน้าแน่นอน แผ่นซีดี 2 อัลบั้มนี้หายากและราคาสูงมากในอีเบย์จนถึงทุกวันนี้

ผมว่าแต่ละคนที่ฟังเพลงมามักจะมีช่วงเวลาที่เราบ้าคลั่งไปกับดนตรีตอนเราเป็นวัยรุ่น แตกต่างกันไปตามอายุ

สำหรับผม ก็คงเป็นยุคปลายๆของดนตรีแนวนี้แหละ  (ผมฟังช่วงหลังจนมารอยต่อนูเมทัล)

แต่แค่เข้ามาก็จะร้องไห้แล้ว 555

ไม่นึกว่าวงนี้ยังอยู่นะเนี่ย

แม้ว่าผมยังคงคิดว่าช่วงปลายยุค 60s ถึงต้นยุค 70s คือช่วงเวลาแห่งยุคทองของวัฒนธรรมของคนหนุ่มสาว แต่อย่างน้อยยุค 90s ก็ยังมีกระแสบริทพ็อพมาช่วยเพิ่มสไตล์ล้ำๆให้กับยุคนั้น ดีไซน์เก๋ๆ ดนตรีดีๆ และแฟชั่นเนี๊ยบๆมักจะมาจากอังกฤษเสมอเลยครับ

และแฟชั่นในยุคนั้นก็ยังมีการนำแรงบันดาลใจจากปลายยุค 60s ถึงต้นยุค 70s มาปรับแต่งให้เข้ากับยุคสมัย ทรงผมที่เคยหวีกันแบบเสยๆไปข้างหลัง หรือเป่าให้ฟูแบบพวก Duran Duran กับเสื้อผ้าบูติคทรงหลวมๆของยุค 80s ที่ดูแย่ๆ (ทศวรรษก่อนหน้านั้นทุกอย่างดูมันแย่ไปหมดเลยครับ ไม่เว้นแม้แต่ในอังกฤษ) ก็เปลี่ยนไปเป็นทรงผมที่หวีลงมาปรกหน้าผากคล้ายๆแบบ mop-top เสื้อผ้าก็เริ่มเข้ารูปเข้าทรงที่พอดีกับขนาดของร่างกาย กางเกงก็จะฟิตขึ้นมาอีกนิด ปลายกางเกงก็จะบานขึ้นมาอีกหน่อย แทนที่จะเป็นทรงที่ใส่แล้วดูพองๆแบบยุค 80s ยังไงยุค 90s ทั้งแฟชั่นและการเมืองก็ยังดูดีกว่าทศวรรษก่อนหน้านั้นเยอะเลยครับ (บางคนอาจจะบอกว่ามันเป็นยุคที่แดโมแครตได้เป็นรัฐบาล แต่หลักการของพรรคก็ไกล้เป็นรีพับลิกกันเข้าไปทุกที และยุคนี้ัยังเป็นยุคที่หนังอินดี้ครองตลาดได้เพราะตัวมันเองได้กลายเป็นอุตสาหกรรมไปแล้ว)

ถ้าพูดถึงสาวยุค 90s ผมว่านักร้องนำในคลิพนี้มีสไตล์ที่งามในแบบต้นยุค 90s จริงๆครับ (อาจจะยับมีร่องรอยของสไตล์ในยุค 80s หลงเหลือให้เห็นอยู่บ้าง แต่หน้าตาเธอดูเป็นอังกฤษจริงๆแบบที่ผมชอบเสียด้วยสิครับ)

พอไปค้นข้อมูลของพวกเธอ ถึงได้ทราบว่านักร้องนำหญิง Rose and Rachel DeFreitas เป็นพี่น้องฝาแฝด และพวกเธอยังเป็นน้องสาวของ Pete DeFreitas มือกลองแห่งวง Echo & the Bunnymen อีกด้วยครับ  น่าเสียดายที่ตอนนี้เธอเลิกเล่นดนตรี หันไปทำงานในร้านเพชรเสียแล้ว

นอกจาก The Heart Throbs แล้ว Lush ก็เป็นอีกวงหนึ่งที่อยู่ในช่วงเวลาไล่เลี่ยกัน ที่น่าแปลกใจก็คือ วงนี้เป็นวงแรกที่ให้คำจำกัดความของคำว่า ผมเองก็เพิ่งได้ยินเทอมนี้มาได้ไม่นาน และพอนึกถึงคำๆนี้ทีไร มักจะคิดไปถึงวงอิเลคโทรนิคอย่าง M83 ไปเสียทุกครั้งเลยครับ ไม่น่าเชื่อว่าคำๆนี้ แรกเริ่มเดิมทีใช้เพื่อให้คำจำกัดความดนตรีที่มาจากวงกีตาร์อย่าง lush

ข้างล่างเป็นเพลงของ Lush ที่ใช้ประกอบภาพยนตร์เรื่อง City of Industry (1997) ครับ ผมค่อนข้างเฉยๆกับหนังเรื่องนี้ แต่ชอบเพลงนี้มากครับ

เห็นด้วยครับว่า การแต่งตัวของยุค 80's นั้นห่วยจริงๆ ยุคอื่นยังมีกลับมาประยุกต์ให้เข้ากับสมัยปัจจุบันอย่างเช่นแฟชั่น ยุค 60 70 แต่ 80 นี่ไม่มีใครทำกลับมาใช้เลยนะ

มาแล้วครับอัลบั้มใหม่สุดยอดของวงต้นตำรับกรันจ์ของแท้ที่ไม่เอาใจตลาด คงไม่มีใครมาแทน Layne Stanley ได้แน่ๆ แต่น่าสนใจว่าทางวงจะหาทิศทางใหม่ให้ตัวเองได้หรือไม่ หลังจากใช้เวลากว่า 10 ปีในการเยียวยาสถานการณ์ของวงให้อยู่ต่อไปได้ ขออย่าให้จุดจบเหมือน The Doors เลย ขนาดได้ป้า Elton John มาเล่นเปียนโนให้นี่ไม่ะรรมดาแน่งานนี้

ได้ฟัง Alice in Chains ชุดใหม่แล้ัวนะครับ อยากบอกว่าค่อนข้างประทับใจเลยครับ ดนตรียังคงเป็นกรันจ์พันธุ์แท้ไม่เอาใจตลาดที่ทั้งหนักแน่น หม่นหมอง และซีเรียสตามสไตล์การสร้างสรรค์ดนตรีของ Jerry Cantrall (เผลอๆจะหนักกว่าชุดก่อนๆด้วยซ้ำไป) อารมณ์แบบฮาร์ดร๊อค/เฮฟวี่เมทัลเก๋าๆยังมีให้ฟังกันอย่างเต็มอิ่ม แต่ความขลังของเสียงร้องและตัวเพลงโดยรวมนั้นคงเทียบอัลบั้มสุดคลาสสิคอย่าง Dirt ไม่ได้หรอกครับ อย่างไรก็ตาม Black Gives Way to Blue ยังคงเป็น Alice in Chains แบบเดิมๆที่แฟนๆต้องการอยากให้เป็นครับ

ป.ล. เพลงไตเติ้ลแทร๊คที่เป็นเพลง Tribute ให้กับ Layne Staley และได้ Elton John มาเล่นเปียโนให้นั้นไพเราะกินใจมากครับ ฟังแล้วน้ำตาจะไหล

ใครอยากซึมซาบความยอดเยี่ยมของ Alice In Chains โดยเฉพาะตัว Layne Stanley แนะนำให้หาดีวีดี Alice In Chains - Unplugged มาดูครับ ตอนนั้นเป็นช่วงที่ Layne อยู่ในช่วงที่ติดยาอย่างหนักเพราะโศกเศร้ากับการเสียชีวิตของแฟนเขา จะเห็นได้เลยว่า Layne ดูแย่มาก มีร้องผิดคิวด้วย แต่มันกลับสร้างบรรยากาศที่มืดมนและมีมนต์ขลังได้อย่างน่้าอัศจรรย์

Alice In Chains ชุดใหม่นี่ให้อารมณ์กดดัน ซึมเศร้า แต่ปลดปล่อยในส่วนลึกดีเหลือเกินครับ ให้อารมณ์คล้ายฟัง Nine Inch Nails ทั้งๆที่ดนตรีไม่เหมือนกัน

มีความเห็นว่า Alice ดนตรีดีกว่า Nirvana ครับ
