อยากทราบคำจำกัดความเรื่องซาวนด์ของดนตรีแนวนี้ครับ เผอิญเห็นว่าวง The Arcade Fire หรือ Architecture in Helsinki ก็เล่นแนวนี้เหมือนกัน แต่ผมก็ยังจับตัวตนของดนตรีแนวนี้ไม่ได้ เท่าที่อ่านคำจำกัดความภาษาอังกฤษตามเว็บก็ยังไม่ค่อยกระจ่างเท่าไรเลยครับ

2000's Pop/Rock พวกนี้อย่าคิดอะไรมากเลยครับ
บางคนจะชอบเรียกวงพวกนี้รวม ๆ ว่า Indie Pop/Rock ด้วยซ้ำ
(บางทีออกอัลบั้มใหม่กลายเป็น Chamber pop ไปก็มี)

Twee Pop มันแปลง่าย ๆ ว่าป็อบแบบกระจุ๋มกระจิ๋ม (แต่อาจไม่น่ารักก็ได้) ครับ
อย่าง Arcade Fire นี้ไม่ใช่แน่ เลเยอร์เยอะ ๆ โทนจัด ๆ ไม่น่าเป็น Twee ได้ วงที่น่าจะเข้าเค้าคือ Belle and Sebastian (จริง ๆ วงนี้เป็นป็อบง่าย ๆ กลิ่นย้อนยุคผสมโฟล์คเข้าไป บางเพลงก็มีความซับซ้อนอยู่หน่อย ๆ แต่รวม ๆ ฟังง่ายดี) แต่ถ้าจากประวัติศาสตร์มันเป็นเรื่องของยุค DIY ยุคก่อนหน้าอีกที ซึ่งเป็นเหมือนการออกมาจาก Scene ของพวก Hardcore หรือ Alternative แนวอื่น ๆ ที่มัน Live and Loud แล้วมาทำให้ป็อบขึ้น

ส่วน Baroque Pop นี้นึกเล่น ๆ ก็ได้ว่ามัน "บ้ารก" ครับ แต่ก็ยังมีความป็อบในดนตรี (Baroque น่าจะมาจากยุคสมัยของดนตรีคลาสสิกที่มีการเรียกเรียงเสียงประสานในแบบของยุคนั้นน่ะแหละ) ค่อนข้างใกล้ ๆ กับ Chamber Pop เหมือนกัน (ถ้าเข้าใจความหมายของ Chamber Music ก็น่าจะแยกออก แต่ผมเลือน ๆ แล้ว) ความหมายมันยังไม่คงชัด ยังดิ้น ๆ ได้ บ้างว่า Nick Drake อัลบั้ม Bryter Layter เป็น Baroque Pop ก็มี บ้างก็ว่าความหมายมันไม่จำเป็นประสานเลเยอร์กันโครมขนาดนั้นก็ได้ ขอแค่ให้มีเครื่องดนตรีแบบในดนตรีคลาสสิกมาประกอบตามไปก็ใช้ได้แล้ว ดูเหมือนว่าความหมายอย่างหลังจะได้รับการยอมรับและกลายเป็นว่า Indie pop/rock อีกหลายวงกลายเป็นแนวนี้ไปด้วยเลย

บางทีผมก็ไม่อยากยุ่งกับศัพท์พวกนี้แล้วเรียก Belle ว่าเป็น Pop Rock (ฟังสบาย ๆ ดี)
เรียก Arcade Fire ที่ซับซ้อนกว่าหน่อยเป็น Art Rock ไปเลย (เป็น Art Rock คนละความหมายกับของ Progarchive นะ)

เป็นแน่นอนครับ แต่เพลงมันโครมครามไปนิดนึง ผมเลยฟังไม่ค่อยติด (เหมือนอย่าง Architecture in Helsinki ที่เล่นแบบน่ารักกรุ๊งกริ๊งเหมือนกัน แต่ก็แอบบ้าพลังตลอดเลย)

พูดถึง Twee Pop นี่ ผมว่างานของวงยุคปลาย 80's จนถึงกลาง 90's นี่แจ่มสุดๆแล้วครับ โดยเฉพาะของค่าย Sarah Records
