ผมไม่เคยฟังงานของ Decemberists เป็นพร๊อกเช่นเดียวกันครับ คือถ้าจะนับงานของวงนี้เป็นพร๊อก ก็ต้องนับงานของ The Arcade Fire หรือ Shearwater เป็นพร๊อกด้วยนะนั่น

อย่าง Muse ชุดใหม่นี่ เพลงแรกๆไม่ Prog เลย แต่ยังพอคุยถึงเพลงหลังๆได้ว่ามีความเป็น Prog อยู่ให้เห็นจริงๆ

อันดับหนึ่งมันได้ไปได้ยังไงน่ะ ผมว่าวงนี้มือตกมาหลายชุดแล้วครับ

เท่าที่ดูในลิสต์นี่ฟังไปซะเกินครึ่งละ แต่ไอ้อันดับหนึ่งนี่ต้องลองฟังอีกทีแฮะ หุหุ...

จริงๆแล้วคำว่าโปรเกรสสีฟนี่มันแปลได้สองแง่คือดนตรีโปรเกรสสีฟตามความหมายของแนวมันจริงๆและแบบที่หมายความถึงแนวคิดการทำเพลงแบบโปรเกรสสีฟ คือมีการพัฒนาในแง่ดนตรีให้มีความแตกต่างตลอดไม่มีหยุดนิ่ง (ซึ่งวงอย่าง The Decemberists น่าจะเป็นอย่างหลังนะครับ) แต่ผมเองก็งงอยู่เหมือนกันว่าในปัจจุบันเว็บ progarchives นั้นคัดเลือกวงดนตรีในแง่ใหนกันแน่ แต่ถ้ามองในแง่หลังผมก็เห็นควรให้วงอย่าง The Arcade Fire อะไรพวกนี้ได้รับการยอมรับในเว็บนี้ด้วย เพราะแนวเพลงของพวกเขาอาจจะไม่ใช่โปรเกรสสีฟร๊อคตามพื้นฐานที่เราคุ้นเคยกัน แต่ในแง่ของความคิดและการทำดนตรีของพวกเขานั้นเป็นโปรเกรสสีฟแน่นอน (คือถ้า The Decemberists ได้เป็นหนึ่งใน progarchives ด้วยอ่ะนะ)

คงต้องดู Sub-genre มันด้วย อย่าง Muse กับ Radiohead เว็บนี้เขาจัดเป็น Crossover Prog. หรือแปลง่าย ๆ ว่าพวกกึ่ง Prog. น่ะ แต่ Decemberists ผมว่าจะเรียกอย่างดีสุดก็ Art Rock/Folk-Rock นะ

   ฟัง Down And Out In Paris And London
The Tangent แล้ว คิดว่าดีกว่าชุดที่แล้วนะครับ ฟังติดหูมากขึ้น แต่โดยรวมแล้วก็ยังไม่ดีเด่นมากนัก ผมว่าเสียงต่างๆที่ทางวงเลือกใช้ฟังแปลกใหม่ดี แต่อาจจะเพราะความที่เสียงมันไม่คุ้นหูหรืออย่างไร จึงทำให้ไม่ติดใจมาก โครงสร้างเพลงเหมือนจะทำให้ป๊อปขึ้นบ้าง แต่ฟังไปมาก็ยุ่งเหยิง สับสนอยู่ดี สรุปแล้ว ชอบ maudlin of the Well มากกว่าครับ

The Tangent แล้ว คิดว่าดีกว่าชุดที่แล้วนะครับ ฟังติดหูมากขึ้น แต่โดยรวมแล้วก็ยังไม่ดีเด่นมากนัก ผมว่าเสียงต่างๆที่ทางวงเลือกใช้ฟังแปลกใหม่ดี แต่อาจจะเพราะความที่เสียงมันไม่คุ้นหูหรืออย่างไร จึงทำให้ไม่ติดใจมาก โครงสร้างเพลงเหมือนจะทำให้ป๊อปขึ้นบ้าง แต่ฟังไปมาก็ยุ่งเหยิง สับสนอยู่ดี สรุปแล้ว ชอบ maudlin of the Well มากกว่าครับ

เท่าที่ผมฟังมา (นิดหน่อย) รู้สึกว่าเสียงร้องมันไม่ค่อยเด่นเท่าไหร่นะฮะ (รู้สึกดนตรีมันจะบดบังเสียงร้องไปจนหมด) แต่เห็นว่าเป็นครั้งแรกที่ใช้ไลน์อัพอังกฤษทั้งวงด้วยเลยดูน่าสนใจขึ้นมานิดหน่อย ส่วน Maudlin of the Well คงไม่ขอบรรยายอะไรมาก งานแทบไร้ที่ติจริงๆ
