DEPECHE MODE have been nominated for two Grammys - 'Best Alternative Music Album' and 'Best Short Form Music Video' - at this year's awards. Elsewhere in the nominations BON JOVI and HALL & OATES are competing for 'Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals' and PET SHOP BOYS are up for 'Best Electronic/Dance Album' while PRINCE, U2, AC/DC, BRIAN SETZER, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST and ZIGGY MARLEY are also up for awards. The awards will take place in Los Angeles on January 31st.

RICH KIDS forthcoming one-off reunion show at London's Islington Academy will feature a number of special guests including SPANDAU BALLET's GARY KEMP and CARBON/SILICON. See NEWS for more details.

BLONDIE and SQUEEZE will be among the artists appearing at next year's Isle of Wight Festival on a bill that will also include sets from The Strokes, Pink, Orbital and Jay-Z.

BOY GEORGE will release his take on the classic Christmas track 'White Christmas' as a download on December 13th. George has also announced UK tour dates for April 2010 in addition to his previously announced HERE AND NOW appearances. See GIGS for all the dates. Boy George will also play live on Jools Holland's New Year's Eve TV special which will broadcast live on BBC2 on December 31st at 11pm.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE, MADNESS, BILL DRUMMOND and THE FALL have all been confirmed for next year's Camp Bestival which takes place in Dorset over the weekend July 30th to August 1st.

KYLIE MINOGUE will release a live album entitled 'Kylie Live In New York' as a download on December 14th. The show was recorded at Kylie's recent show at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom and features 25 tracks while iTunes customers will also receive a further three bonus tracks. MICHAEL JACKSON's 'This is It' movie will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on January 26th and the release will feature the movie plus over 90 minutes of extra footage including two documentaries.

ROD STEWART has added two Scottish shows to his UK dates next summer with the announcement of shows at Edinburgh Castle and the Glasgow SECC in July. See GIGS for all the dates.

THE ENGLISH BEAT have announced US shows in February and March on a bill with FISHBONE. See GIGS for all the dates.

MADONNA will release 'Revolver' as a single on December 14th. The track, one of two new tracks included on Madonna's recent 'Celebration' compilation, features vocals from Lil Wayne.

NITZER EBB will release a new album 'Industrial Complex' on January 22nd. The band are currently playing US shows and will join DEPECHE MODE as support for some of their shows in early 2010. See GIGS for all their dates.

ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN are believed to be planning special shows during which they will perform their first two albums - 'Crocodiles' and 'Heaven Up Here' - in their entirety. The rumours come from comments made by frontman Ian McCulloch in a recent interview to promote the band's new album 'The Fountain'.

JAMES have announced that they will release two mini-albums in 2010 and will be playing live shows in April next year. The first of the releases will be released before the live shows and will be entitled 'The Night Before'. See GIGS for all the dates.

DEPECHE MODE will play a very special one-off concert at London's Royal Albert Hall on February 17th in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust with tickets going on general sale this Friday December 18th.

TOYAH has announced a string of live shows for 2010 which sees her supplement her previously announced shows with THE HUMANS with four Toyah shows featuring a full band line-up. See GIGS for all the details.

DURAN DURAN are to follow their recent 'Rio' reissue with special 2-disc and 3-disc editions of their 'Seven & The Ragged Tiger' album in March next year. The release will be available in both CD and vinyl editions as well as via digital download. The vinyl edition will feature the original album packaged with a bonus 12" single of remixes, the 2-CD set will feature a remastered version of the original album on one CD and a selection of non album singles and b-sides on the other while a limited edition 3-disc set will also include a DVD of live tracks, videos and TV appearances. HOWARD JONES releases a special live DVD of his special 25th Anniversary Concert in the UK this week. The release comes as a digi-packed double disc edition and features material from all stages of Howard Jones' career as well as appearances by NICK HEYWARD and NIK KERSHAW. SEXGANG CHILDREN will have their 1983 album 'Song & Legend' reissued on January 11th in an expanded edition that will feature the original album alongside four bonus acoustic tracks. See NEWS for the full album tracklisting.

IRON MAIDEN, THE CULT, ALICE COOPER, MOTELY CRUE, ANTHRAX and SLAYER will all appear at next year's Sonisphere Festival which is set to take place at Knebworth between July 30th and August 1st 2010.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE and STATUS QUO respectively will headline the Saturday and Sunday nights at next year's Guilfest festival in Surrey which takes place on July 17th and 18th.

DURAN DURAN will release a special edition of their eponymous 'Duran Duran' album in March alongside the previously reported edition of 'Seven & The Ragged Tiger'. The release will be available in both CD and vinyl editions as well as via digital download. The vinyl edition will feature the original album packaged with a bonus 12" single of remixes, the 2-CD set will feature a remastered version of the original album on one CD and a selection of non album singles and b-sides on the other while a limited edition 3-disc set will also include a DVD of live tracks, videos and TV appearances. Meanwhile DURAN DURAN's NICK RHODES will be interviewed as part of the Mobile Entertainment keynote session at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February and the band will play a private live show at the event's evening awards ceremony and party.

U2 are to release a remix album in January. The album will be available only to members of their fanclub and will feature remixes by artists as diverse as Trent Reznor ('Vertigo'), David Holmes ('Beautiful Day'), Danny Saber ('Happiness Is A Warm Gun') and Jacknife Lee ('Fast Cars').

BROS are rumoured (again!) to be in reunion talks with an apparent O2 Arena show scheduled for 2010 featuring both MATT and LUKE GOSS as well as CRAIG LOGAN...

BLONDIE have released a Christmas single entitled 'We Three Kings' as a free download from their official website...see NEWS for more details.

SPANDAU BALLET, BLONDIE, SHAKESPEARS SISTER and SQUEEZE are all confirmed for next year's Isle Of Wight Festival which will take place over the weekend of June 11th to 13th next year.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE have signed a new record deal with the highly respected Wall Of Sound label, although no information is currently available about new material from the band...

WAS (NOT WAS) will release a new compilation, 'Pick Of The Litter', in February next year to mark the 30th anniversary of the innovative band. The release will feature material from the various stages of Was (Not Was)'s career and will include remixes and alternative versions.

ABBA and GENESIS will be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame next year at a special ceremony on New York on March 15th.

PET SHOP BOYS recorded their recent show at London's O2 Arena for release as a live CD and DVD sometime in the first half of 2010.

DOLLAR will reissue expanded editions of their albums 'The Paris Collection' and 'The Dollar Album' in February with each album supplemented by a further six bonus tracks. See NEWS for both album tracklistings.

SPANDAU BALLET will be the first band to perform in space according to current rumours that state that the recently reformed act have signed up with Richard Branson to travel on his new commercial spacecraft, Enterprise, to a point outside the Earth's atmosphere where they will be weightless for long enough to perform one song. The flight is said to be tentatively scheduled for mid 2011...

QUEEN's new compilation 'Absolute Greatest' has been reviewed in the REVIEWS section.

BEASTIE BOYS will release their new album 'The Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1' in the early part of next year after having the release postponed from September to allow the band's Adam Yauch to undergo treatment for cancer. The band are also expected to announce live plans for 2010 shortly, including a number of high profile festival appearances.

REM's classic single 'Everybody Hurts' has been chosen by Simon Cowell to be covered by a host of artists to benefit those affected by the recent earthquakes in Haiti.

SIMPLE MINDS will see 'Collector's Editions' of their classic 'New Gold Dream' and 'Sparkle In The Rain' albums released in April.

UB40 will release the fourth in their 'Labour Of Love' series of albums on February 8th.

VISAGE are to be the subject of a new compilation entitled 'The Very Best of Visage' which is scheduled for release on March 8th. The collection will feature all the influential band's best known hits alongside original and new remixes. See NEWS for the full album tracklisting.

MARIAH CAREY is to release a remix edition of her 'Angels Advocate' album on March 9th, featuring mixes from Swizz Beatz, R. Kelly and T-Pain among others.

PAUL WELLER and BRUCE FOXTON have collaborated together on two songs which will appear on Weller's forthcoming 'Wake Up The Nation' album. The recordings are the first time the duo have worked together since THE JAM split.

THE SPECIALS will release a live DVD on March 1st. The release will feature a show at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall, recorded during last year's reunion shows alongside backstage footage of the band, rehearsal footage and interviews with fans. See NEWS for the full live tracklisting.

DURAN DURAN will continue their catalogue album reissue series with 3-disc (2-CD and 1-DVD) editions of 'Big Thing' and 'Notorious' scheduled for release in April, following the previously reported editions of 'Duran Duran' and 'Seven & The Ragged Tiger' which will be released on March 15th.

THE CURE's ROBERT SMITH has covered 'Very Good Advice' for the soundtrack to Tim Burton's forthcoming adaptation of Alice In Wonderland which will be in cinemas on March 5th. The soundtrack album will be available from March 2nd and also contains tracks recorded by Avril Lavigne, Franz Ferdinand and Tokio Hotel among others.

MADNESS are to follow their recent 'One Step Beyond' album reissue with expanded editions of their 'Absolutely' and 'Seven' albums on April 12th. Both releases will feature a host of extra content including live tracks, b-side, videos and radio session versions. PUBLIC IMAGE LIMITED, THE SPECIALS, GARY NUMAN, DEVO, FAITH NO MORE, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN and GRACE JONES have all been confirmed for the bill of the forthcoming Coachella Festival in the US.

SPANDAU BALLET are to release special expanded 2-CD editions of their 'Diamond' and 'Journeys To Glory' albums on March 1st with 3-disc editions (2-CD and 1-DVD) of 'True' and 'Parade' scheduled for May release.

TEARS FOR FEARS' CURT SMITH will release a new solo single entitled 'All Is Love' this week. In addition to touring with Tears For Fears this year Smith will be playing solo shows throughout 2010 starting with a show at LA's Cornonet in March. See NEWS for more details.

808 STATE will reissue four albums on March 22nd. '808:90', 'Ex:El', 'Gorgeous' and 'Don Solaris' are all coming out in remastered editions, each with a bonus disc of rare and previously unreleased tracks.

GO WEST frontman PETER COX will release a new solo albumm 'The S1 Sessions' on March 22nd.

LEVINHURST - the band LOL TOLHURST started with his wife after leaving THE CURE - have announced a run of European shows in March to support their third album 'Blue Star' and featuring former Cure bassist MICHAEL DEMPSEY in the line-up. See GIGS for all the dates.

TRACIE YOUNG's 1984 album 'Far from the Hurting Kind' will be reissued, with bonus tracks, later this year.

JASON DONOVAN is set to star in a stage adaptation of The War Of The Worlds which is scheduled to tour through Holland, Belgium and the UK in November and December 2010.

THE HUMAN LEAGUE, GARY NUMAN and GRACE JONES will all play special shows at a new temporary venue, the 5DX dome, in Miami and London in March and April. The venue will offer '3D Surround Sound, 360-degree visuals as well as dining facilities, with five-course meals for guests' and Gary Numan is quoted as describing the experience as 'the entertainment equivalent of walking into a laptop - the audience are immersed in a 360 degree digital environment unlike any experience known before'. HAPPY MONDAYS will headline the Saturday night of this year's Wychwood Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse on June 5th. Mondays' frontman SHAUN RYDER also this week revealed plans to reform Black Grape for live shows this year.

THE HUMANS have confirmed that they will play a short set at a forthcoming Haiti Earthquake Fundraiser organised by THE KLF's BILL DRUMMOND which will take place at The Roundhouse in London on Thursday February 25th.

THE GODFATHERS will play their annual 'Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre' show at London's ULU on February 14th.

DOLLAR's albums 'The Paris Collection' and 'Dollar' will both be reissued on February 22nd in expanded editions featuring bonus tracks. RECOIL will release a new album, 'Recoil Selected', on April 19th featuring remastered versions of classic Recoil tracks edited into what the band's ALAN WILDER describes as ' a cohesive and total listening experience'. The release will be available as a single CD or as a special 2-CD edition featuring a second disc containing new remixes and alternative versions. MEN AT WORK have been ordered to compensate an Australian music publisher representing the late Marion Sinclair after a court ruled that the Men At Work hit 'Down Under' infringes the copyright of her song 'Kookaburra Sits in the Old Gum Tree'...

WE ARE THE WORLD, 1985's all-star famine relief single, has been remade by a host of contemporary artists - including JANET JACKSON who performs the parts taken by her brother Michael in the original version - to benefit earthquake relief efforts in Haiti.

U2, THE POLICE, THE CLASH, THE STRANGLERS, THE SPECIALS, THE BEAT, THE PRETENDERS, SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES and THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS are among artists featured in a new exhibition of photographs taking place in Toronto between March 3rd and April 1st. The exhibit, 'Toronto Calling', will take place at the Steam Whistle Brewery on Bremner Boulevard and features a host of images, taken in Toronto between 1979 and 1981, which have never been displayed before.

BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE will release a remastered and expanded edition of their 1985 album 'This Is Big Audio Dynamite' on April 27th featuring the original album plus an additional CD of remixes, dub versions, edits, outtakes and single b-sides. See NEWS for the album tracklisting.

The release will feature two audio CDs featuring the band's entire 'Return To Eden' set recorded at London's Roundhouse in April 2009 alongside a DVD of the show. DEAD OR ALIVE are planning a tour for the summer to celebrate the 25th anniversary of 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' and are planning shows that will include new material alongside their classic hits. THE CHURCH have announced a 30th anniversary tour of the USA that will see the band play material from all stages of their career in reverse chronological order. KILLING JOKE have rescheduled their forthcoming Edinburgh and London dates and will now play the shows on October 15th and 16th respectively. The shows will support the band's new studio album 'XIII: Feast Of Fools' which will be released on September 6th.

The album features artists from the respected Hydrogen Jukebox roster and is described as 'a compilation of classic songs twisted into new and often beautiful electronic shapes'. The album will be preceded by a single on April 26th featuring Talking Heads' 'Once In A Lifetime' covered by Plumbline and BUZZCOCKS' 'Homosapien' covered by A1 People and featuring Pete Shelley.

MARC ALMOND's 1999 album 'Open All Night' - featuring SIOUXSIE SIOUX on the track 'Threat Of Love' - will be reissued in an expanded 2-CD edition on April 19th. The updated edition will feature a bonus CD, curated by Marc Almond himself, of original song demos, film soundtrack rarities and alternative versions.

PAT BENATAR and REO SPEEDWAGON will play a co-headline tour of the US in the summer under the banner of the 'Love On The Run' tour. The outing will kick off in June and play until the end of August. See GIGS for all the details.

SPANDAU BALLET have confirmed that they will be headlining the Saturday night of the forthcoming Isle Of Man Bay Festival on June 19th with other bands appearing over the weekend including Calvin Harris, The Feeling and The Saturdays. The Sunday night will be a special HERE AND NOW bill that will include appearances from BOY GEORGE, RICK ASTLEY, BELINDA CARLISLE, CUTTING CREW, CURIOSITY KILLED THE CAT and KIM WILDE.

       ศิลปินชื่อดังชาวอังกฤษ “อดัม แอนท์” ถูกส่งเข้ารักษาตัวที่โรงพยาบาลสำหรับผู้ป่วยทางจิตอีกครั้ง เมื่อเริ่มมีพฤติกรรมแปลกประหลาด และควบคุมอารมณ์ไม่อยู่ หลังจากเคยรักษาอาการดังกล่าวเมื่อปี 2003 จนเริ่มดีขึ้น และกลับมาแสดงคอนเสิร์ตได้อีกครั้งในปีนี้
      
       จากรายงานของหนังสือพิมพ์ในอังกฤษหลายเจ้ารวมถึง เดลี่ เมล์ และ เดอะ ซัน นักร้องชื่อดังยุค 80 อดัม แอนท์ หรือที่มีชื่อจริงว่า สต๊วร์ต ก็อดดาร์ด เริ่มแสดงอาการผิดปกติออกมา ในงานคอนเสิร์ตการกุศลที่พอร์ทสมัธเมื่ออาทิตย์ก่อน หลังกล่าวโวยวายเป็นเวลานานบนเวทีคอนเสิร์ต จนเริ่มมีเสียงโห่ออกมาจากกลุ่มคนดู ยังมีรายงานด้วยว่า เอนท์ ได้ตะโกนถามไปที่คนดูว่า มีใครที่นับถือศาสนาคริสต์บ้าง หลังจากนั้นกลับพ่นคำหยาบ “f**k” Off ไปให้ผู้คนเหล่านั้น!
      
       นี่ไม่ใช่ครั้งแรก ที่นักร้องชื่อดังวัย 55 ปี มีพฤติกรรมควบคุมตัวเองไม่ได้เช่นนี้ แต่อาการทางสุขภาพจิตกลายเป็นปัญหา ที่สร้างความยุ่งยากให้แก่เขาในช่วงหลายปีที่ผ่านมา โดยเฉพาะในปี 2003 ซึ่งเกิดเหตุการณ์ที่ แอนท์ พยายามพังประตูบ้าน ของเพื่อนบ้านคนหนึ่ง จนถูกดำเนินคดีทางอาญา และกลายเป็นเหตุให้ศาลส่งศิลปินยอดนิยมเข้ารักษา ในสถานพยาบาลสำหรับผู้ป่วยทางจิตมาแล้วครั้งหนึ่ง จนต้องใช้เวลาอยู่ที่นั่นถึงหลายเดือนเลยทีเดียว
      
       ขณะที่ครั้งล่าสุด หลังก่อเรื่องบนเวทีคอนเสิร์ต เจ้าตัวได้ถูกส่งเข้ารักษาที่ โรงพยาบาลเชลซี แอนด์ เวสมินสเตอร์ ทันทีตั้งแต่วันอังคารที่แล้ว และล่าสุดอดีตนักร้องยอดนิยมได้ส่งข้อความถึงแฟนๆ ยอมรับว่าเกิดปัญหากับตัวเองขึ้นจริง แต่หวังว่าจะสามารถรักษาตัวให้หายดี เพื่อกลับขึ้นเวทีคอนเสิร์ตอีกครั้งให้ได้ ในปลายปีนี้ ...
      
       "โปรดอย่ามาที่นี่เลยครับ คุณจะรบกวนพวกพนักงานเจ้าหน้าที่เสียเปล่าๆ ที่นี่วิวสวยดี ผมได้เขียนภาพด้วย เหมือนกับตัวเองเป็นนักเรียนศิลปะเลย หวังว่าจะได้กลับขึ้นไปบนเวทีอีกครั้งในปลายปีนี้" อดัม แอนท์ กล่าวผ่านข้อความที่ส่งถึงแฟนๆ และสื่อ ผ่านทางอินเตอร์เน็ต
      
       อดีตนักร้องนำของวง Adam and the Ants เคยกล่าวถึงปัญหาทางจิตของตัวเองว่า ลิลี่ ลูกสาววัย 12 ปี กลายเป็นแรงบันดาลใจในการพยายามต่อสู้กับอาการเหล่านั้น "ผมต้องต่อสู้กับอาการคลุ้มคลั่ง เดี๋ยวดีเดี๋ยวร้ายของตัวเองมาตลอดทั้งชีวิต แต่สามารถเอาชนะมันได้เพราะลูก เคยมีช่วงเวลาที่แย่มาก ผมแทบเสียสติ แต่สุดท้ายก็กลับมาได้" ซึ่งหลายฝ่าย ก็หวังว่า เอนท์ จะสามารถเอาชนะอาการป่วย และกลับมาได้อีกครั้ง
