พี่แกขยันออกงานแบบไม่ให้แฟนๆได้อดออมกันเลย เมื่อเดือนกุภาที่ผ่านมาเพิ่งออก Pacific Codex ของ Bass Communion แบบ Deluxe Limited มา ล่าสุดนี่จะออกอัลบั้มใหม่ของ No-man อีก ตามโหลด เอ้ย ตามซื้อกันไม่ทันแล้วนะเนี่ย  ;D

Written and recorded between Autumn 2007 and Spring 2008, Schoolyard Ghosts is No-Man's sixth official studio album and its first since 2003's Together We're Stranger.

A distinctive combination of beautifully detailed songwriting, haunting melodies and inventively cinematic production, Schoolyard Ghosts sees No-Man’s core duo of Tim Bowness and Steven Wilson expanding the band's sonic palette by collaborating with, amongst others, Californian pedal steel ace Bruce Kaphan, saxophonist/flautist Theo Travis, drummers Pat Mastelotto and Gavin Harrison, and the London Session Orchestra (arranged by Dave Stewart).

Featuring the sweetly hypnotic Wherever There Is Light, the warped dynamics of Pigeon Drummer, the outsider lament of All Sweet Things, and the subtly evolving explorations of the uplifting 13 minute semi-orchestral epic Truenorth, Schoolyard Ghosts reveals the band taking its accessible and ambitious blend of Post-Rock and Singer-songwriter influences to an even more focused and personalised place than before.

The cd/dvda comes in a lavish digi-pack with booklet and also features a 5.1 mix of the album, a photo gallery and videos for 3 songs.

The No-Man Store edition comes with an exclusive 6 track, 20 minute, bonus disc of alternates and edits.

I've been listened to their 2003's album. It's some kind of melancholic and smooth music with a lot of acoustic tinged like David Sylvian.

Eh......But I've never listened it as Psychedelic Music. I can describe it as Ambient Rock/Modern Acoustic. Sounds like David Sylvian's solo works so much. If you love beautiful, melancholic, smooth, haunted and well-crafted music. Reccommend!!!!!

พอดีว่าเพิ่งจะซื้ออัลบั้ม Together We're Stranger มาหมาดๆเองครับ งานชุดนี่เหงาๆชอบกลอยู่นา ^^"

กำลังสนใจ Together We're Stranger อยู่พอดีเลย เห็นเขาว่างานของ no-man นี่ต้องฟังหลายๆรอบ ไม่เหมือน Blackfield ที่ฟังแล้วโดนเลย

แต่ถ้าได้ลองฟังอัลบั้มแรกๆอย่าง Flowermouth แล้วจะอึ้งครับ เพราะมันเป็นซินธ์ป๊อปใสๆเพราะๆที่ค่อนข้างต่างกับงานยุคหลังๆอย่าง Together We're Stranger มากทีเดียว ซึ่งไม่คิดเลยว่าพี่ตีฟเราจะทำงานแบบนี้เป็นด้วย ฟังแล้วก็เพราะดีครับ  ;)

ว่าแต่มีใครฟังโปรเจคต์ IEM ของพี่แกแล้วมั่งครับ เป็นโปรเจคที่แกไๆด้แรงบันดาลใจมาจากดนตรี Krautrock เพลงน่ากลัวใช้ได้ทีเดียว  ;D

ยังเก็บ spare จาก Bass Communion  กับ no-man ไม่หมดเลยยังไม่ได้คิดจะหามาฟังน่ะครับ  :P

ฟังพวกนี้มากๆคงได้หลุดออกจากวงโคจรของโลกเข้าสักวันแน่ๆครับ  :D (ผมก็จะหลุดไปแล้วเหมือนกัน)

รูป steve คนอื่นๆ น่าจะไปอยู่ใน any color นะครับ   :-\

เช่นกันครับ รู้สึกจะหลุดโลกไปเรื่อยๆ แล้วครับ ไม่เป็นไรครับ กลับไปฟัง Bruce Spingsteen ซักวัน สองวัน ก็กลับมาติดดินแล้ว  :D

ในที่สุดก็หลุดสู่โลกไซเบอร์จนได้นะครับสำหรับ No-Man อัลบั้มล่าสุด Schoolyard Ghosts (หลุดมาแบบเงียบเชียบมากเลย ถ้าไม่ขุดดีๆก็จะไม่เจอ) ก็เลยลองโลหดมาดู ปรากฏว่ายอดเยี่ยมอีกแล้วครับ ยังคงไพเราะเหมือนเดิม เผลอๆจะมืดมนเศร้าสร้อยและเป็นโปรเกรสสีฟมากกว่าชุดก่อนๆด้วยซ้ำไป (หลอนกว่าชุดที่แล้วด้วยนะ)และก็ไม่รู้ว่าคิดไปเองรึเปล่าว่า อารมณ์หลายๆช่วงของอัลบั้มนี้เหมือนจะต่อเนื่องมาจาก Fear of a Blank Planet ยังไงชอบกล อย่างไรก็ตาม.....สงสัยคงได้เสียสตางค์ให้พี่ตีฟอีกแล้วล่ะครับ  ;D ;D ;D

อัลบั้มนี้ได้คะแนนสูงอยู่ครับ

เท่าที่ได้ยินมา เห็นว่า No-Man จัดเป็น Ambient Rock

มีอารมณ์แบบแอมเบียนท์อยู่บ้างเหมือนกันครับ แต่ผมว่าใกล้ Post-Rock มากกว่านะ

ก็ว่างั้นแหละ

แต่ที่รู้ๆคือ... ตอนนี้สั่งไปแล้ว สำหรับ No-Man ชุดใหม่นี่

เหมือนเอาความไพเราะของ Blackfield + กับความซับซ้อน ล่องลอยของ Porcupine Tree แค่เพลงแรกก็ต้องมนต์สะกดแล้ว เพลง Pigoen Drummer เหมือนจะเป็นเพลงของ PT เลย แต่เพลงที่สุดยอดและเป็น center piece คือ Truenorth ทั้งความไพเราะและการเรียบเรียงที่เหนือชั้น โดยเฉพาะเสียง flute และเสียงวง orchestra นี่... ท่าทางจะต้องเสียเงินสั่งซื้ออีกแล้วครับ พี่สตีฟหนอทำไมขยันทำเงิน เอ้ย! ทำงานจริง แต่ถ้างานออกมาถี่ๆแต่ได้มาตรฐานแบบนี้ก็ต้องยกย่องแล้วครับ  :)

เสียงกระหน่ำกลองไฟฟ้าอย่างบ้าคลั่งในเพลง Pigeon Drummer เป็นฝีมือของ Pat Mastelotto นั่นเองครับ (รวมถึงเสียงเพอคัชชั่นในอีกหลายๆเพลงด้วยครับ)ส่วนเสียงฟลุทในเพลง Truenorth และ Mixtaped เป็นฝีมือของยอดมือแซ็กโซโฟน Theo Travis ครับ

ตอนนี้ก็ชักเริ่มอยากหาผลงานอื่นๆของนักร้องนำ Tim Bowness มาฟังแล้วแฮะ โดยเฉพาะโปรเจคต์ Tim Bowness & Richard Barbieri น่ะ (โปรดิวซ์โดยพี่ตีฟ)  ;D ;D ;D

มิน่าเล่าว่ามันฟังเป็นพวกเทพเล่นยังไงไม่รู้  :D

ถ้าได้ฟังแล้ว รายงานด่วนเลยนะครับ  :D

หลังจากเพิ่งออก Bass Commnion ชุดใหม่ไปหมาดๆ พี่ตีฟเราก็เอาอีกแล้ว แบบว่าไม่ให้แฟนๆหนีไปซื้องานวงอื่นเลย

Available in two formats, both housed in a hardback book containing 120 pages of beautiful photographs captured by Lasse Hoile and Susana Moyaho. The 11x11 inch book, designed by Carl Glover, is printed on super high quality paper and bound in a hard cloth cover with embossed text.

CD Edition: Limited to 3,000 copies in special hardback book. CD1 features the album itself, while the second CD includes songs recorded during the sessions but not included on the main album, including a newly recorded version of the instrumental "Collecting Space" which was previously only available on SW's MySpace page. The DVDA contains a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album, high resolution 24 bit stereo, 18 minutes from the work in progress Lasse Hoile film "Insurgentes", and album/film trailers. The discs are housed in recessed holders inside the cover of the book.

Vinyl Edition: Limited to 1,000 copies on 4 x 10 inch vinyl with special hardback book, and released in association with vinyl specialists ToneFloat. Contains all the tracks from the album as well as the bonus tracks included on CD2 of the CD/DVDA edition. To keep the quality as high as possible, each side of the LP contains a maximum of 12 minutes playing time. The vinyls are housed in card sleeves bound inside the book.

Influences

Steven Wilson mentions post-punk and shoe gazer music as a major influence for the album, citing bands like Joy Division and The Cure. He says the album is also very noise and drone-oriented

โหลดอัลบั้มมาแล้ว เพลงหล่อจริงครับพี่น้อง...

ซาวน์ไม่เหมือน PT เลย ผมว่าออกไปทาง No-Man มากกว่า ถึงกระนั้นก็ยังเป็นซาวน์ที่ดีมาก แต่ฟังติดหูยากเหลือเกิน คิดว่าต้องใช้เวลา "ย่อย" มันนานพอสมควร ขอบคุณน้องเหม่งสำหรับไฟล์ด้วยครับ

ผมกลับคิดว่าชุดนี้ให้ความรู้สึกแบบ No-Man เพียงเล็กน้อยครับ ที่แน่ๆคือมันไม่สามารถฟังได้เรื่อยๆสบายๆแบบนั้นแน่นอน มันจะมีอะไรให้ลุ้นอยู่ในเพลงตลอดเลย ซึ่งก็ยอมรับครับว่ามันติดหูค่อนข้างยาก แต่ถ้าลองฟังให้ละเอียดๆดูทีละเพลงก็จะพบว่ามันมีรายละเอียดที่น่าสนใจมากๆแทรกอยู่ระหว่างตัวเพลง ซึ่งผมรู้สึกได้เลยว่าอัลบั้มนี้เหมือนเป็นจุดศูนย์กลางของทุกๆ Project ที่พี่ตีฟเคยทำมาทั้ง Porcupine Tree (ความเป็นโปรเกรสสีฟ ซาวนด์มืดมน), No-Man (ซาวนด์ล่องลอย นุ่มนวล), Incredible Expanding Mindfuck (การทดลองอีเล็กทรอนิกส์), Bass Communion (แอมเบียนท์/โดรน/น้อยส์) และ Blackfield (อารมณ์ดนตรีเหงา อ้างว้าง) เขาได้นำกลิ่นอายอย่างละเล็กละน้อยของโปรเจคต์เหล่านั้นมาผสมกัน ลดทอนส่วนเกินออก ทำออกมาให้เนียน แล้วจึงเป็น Insurgentes ชุดนี้แหละครับ  :D

ได้ฟังชุด Insurgentes กลับไปกลับมาหลายตลบแล้ว ชักจะติดใจแบบถอนตัวขึ้นยากแล้วล่ะครับ โดยเฉพาะเพลง Harmony Korine ที่ฟังทีไรก็ขนลุกทุกที :D

ขอไล่เรียงเล่นๆแบบเพลงต่อเพลงเลยนะครับ

Harmony Korine - ซาวนด์แบบชุด Fear of a Blank Planet เต็มๆ เพียงแต่เสียงกีตาร์จะแตกพร่ากว่าเล็กน้อย ท่อนคอรัสให้อารมณ์พุ่งทะยานดีมาก ติดหูดีชะมัด

Abandoner - เริ่มนำจังหวะอีเล็กทรอนิกส์แบบ Downtempo มาผสมผสาน ให้อารมณ์ใกล้เคียง No-Man ยุคแรกๆอยู่เหมือนกัน ก่อนที่ในช่วงท้ายๆเพลงจะใส่ซาวนด์กีตาร์แบบโดรนเมทั่ลเข้ามาแบบกดประสาทสุดๆ

Salvaging - เพลงนี้ฟังดูคล้าย Porcupine Tree ยุค Signify ในช่วงสองนาทีแรก ก่อนจะเข้าสู่ท่อนบรรเลงเยี่ยมๆที่เรียงร้อยแนวทาง Progressive, Dark Ambient และ Drone เข้ากันได้อย่างลงตัว

Veneno Para Las Hadas - เพลงนี้ให้อารมณ์ใกล้เคียงกับ No-Man ยุคหลังๆพอสมควร นิ่ง สงบ นุ่มนวล สวยงาม ผสมผสานบรรยากาศแอมเบียนท์ได้อย่างลงตัว

No Twilight Within the Courts of the Sun - เพลง (เกือบ) บรรเลงที่ฟังดูคล้ายการเล่นแบบ Improvise ฟังค่อนข้างยากครับ

Significant Other - อีกหนึ่งเพลงที่ให้บรรยากาศไพเราะ ล่องลอย คล้ายกับงานของ PT ในชุด Stupid Dream แต่ในช่วงท้ายๆก็ไม่วายใส่เสียงกีตาร์โดรน/น้อยส์ดังสนั่นเข้ามาให้ได้เวียนหัวกันเล็กน้อย

Only Child - เพลงนี้ไลน์เบสโดดเด่นมากครับ แต่ไม่ค่อยมีท่อนที่ติดหูสักเท่าไร แต่ก็ให้อารมณ์คล้ายอัลบั้ม Deadwing อยู่เหมือนกัน เรียบเรียงเสียงสังเคราะห์ได้ดีครับ

Twilight Coda - บทเพลงแอมเบียนท์สุดไพเราะ โดดเด่นด้วยเสียงเปียโนและอคูสติกกีตาร์ที่สวยงามน่าฟัง โดยรองรับไว้ด้วยซาวนด์ดาร์คแอมเบียนท์อีกชั้นหนึ่ง ได้บรรยากาศยามเย็นที่แสนหนาวเหน็บจริงๆครับ

Get All That You Deserve - อีกหนึ่งบทเพลงอารมณ์หม่นมืด ขึ้นต้นด้วยเสียงร้องคลอไปกับเสียงเปียโนก่อนจะเร่งเร้าจังหวะขึ้นไปเรื่อยๆเหมือนความมืดที่ค่อยๆเข้าครอบงำ จนกลายเป็นโดรน/น้อยส์ที่ดังสนั่นลั่นทุ่งในช่วงท้ายเพลง เพลงนี้ถือว่าเป็นจุด Climax ของอัลบั้มเลยก็ว่าได้ครับ

Insurgentes - เพลงปิดท้ายอัลบั้ม เป็นเปียโนบัลลา่ดที่ไพเราะดีครับ ให้อารมณ์เหมือนได้หลุดออกจากถ้ำมืดยังไงยังงั้นเลย

นอกจากนี้ยังมี Bonus-Track อีก 5 เพลง ที่น่าสนใจไม่แพ้บทเพลงอื่นในอัลบั้มเลยครับ

Port Rubicon - เพลงนี้เป็น Drone เต็มๆครับ น่ากลัว มืดหม่นและกดดันอารมณ์มาก ฟังตอนดึกๆนี่คงได้ขนลุกเกรียวกันแน่นอนครับ

Puncture Wound - เพลงนี้สมารถนำไปใส่ในอัลบั้ม Deadwing ของ PT ได้สบายๆครับ เพราะบรรยากาศใกล้เคียงกันมาก เสียงคีย์บอร์ดแบ๊คกราวด์ทำได้ดีมากทีเดียว เป็นอีกเพลงที่ฟังได้เรื่อยๆ ได้มาตรฐานของ Steven Wilson ครับ

Collecting Space - จริงๆแล้วเพลงนี้ก็คือ Harmony Korine เวอร์ชั่นบรรเลงนั่นเองครับ แต่จะมีจังหวะและตัวโน้ตที่ต่างกันเล็กน้อย ทั้งยังมีเสียงโคโตะที่แสนไพเราะฝีมือ Michiyo Yagi อีกด้วย ทำให้เวอร์ชั่นนี้ยอดเยี่ยมไม่แพ้เวอร์ชั่นร้องเลยครับ

Insurgentes (Mexico) - Extended Version ของเพลง Insurgentes โดยเพิ่มท่อนบรรเลงและน้อยส์กีตารืเข้ามามากขึ้น แต่โดยส่วนตัวแล้วผมชอบเวอร์ชั่นนี้มากกว่าต้นฉบับครับ

Untitled - เพลงน้เป็นการทดลองผสมผสานซาวนด์แบบ Porcupine Tree เข้ากับแนวดนตรี Electronics / Downtempo (เข้าใจว่าได้อิทธิพลมากจาก Aphex Twin อย่างแน่นอน) และนำมาบวกเข้ากับซาวนด์กีตาร์น้อยส์ ฟังดูโกลาหลชวนปวดหูดีครับ

จะเห็นได้ว่ารูปแบบดนตรีในอัลบั้มนี้มันหลากหลายจริงๆ แต่พอมาฟังต่อเนื่องกันแล้วก็ไม่ให้ความรู้สึกจับฉ่ายแต่อย่างใดครับ ต้องยอมรับฝีมือของพี่ Steven Wilson เขาจริงๆ เป็นผลงานขายไอเดียของเขาเลยล่ะ สรุปว่านี่คือหนึ่งในอัลบั้มที่ดีที่สุดของปีนี้อย่างไม่ต้องสงสัยเลยครับ 

ป.ล. พี่ตีฟได้ออกมายืนยันแล้วว่า ปีหน้าเราจะได้ฟังผลงานชุดใหม่ของ Porcupine Tree อย่างแน่นอนครับ (แต่สงสัยอยู่อย่างเดียวว่าพี่แกเอาเวลาที่ใหนมาทำงานเีนี่ย  :D)

Harmony Korine - เหมาะที่จะเป็นเพลงเปิดตัวอัลบั้มอย่างยิ่ง เพราะมีพลังมาก
No Twilight... - พี่ตีฟจะมาเล่นโพสร้อคแล้วหรือนั่น
Get All... - ค่อยๆขึ้นมาทีละช็อต แต่ชอบท่อนแรกที่เบาและหม่นจนเรียกว่ามืดเลยคงได้


 สรุปสั้นๆคือ งานเดี่ยวชุดนี้ของพี่ตีฟคือการนำจุดเด่นของแต่ละงานที่แกทำมาผสมอย่างลงตัว

Acting as a bridge between No-Man's elegiac 2008 return Schoolyard Ghosts and the forthcoming live concert DVD Mixtaped, Wherever There Is Light is a strictly limited edition release.

From Schoolyard Ghosts, the poignant title track features an incredible guest performance from US pedal steel legend Bruce Kaphan (American Music Club/Red House Painters). The alt-country tinged Death Was California and the atmospheric Counting are two new songs especially written for the EP, while Carolina Skeletons and All The Blue Changes are the first recordings released from No-Man's sell-out Autumn 2008 mini-tour.

Also containing Grant Wakefied's poetic video for the title track, a powerful preview from the Mixtaped DVD, and a striking Carl Glover designed digi-pack, the enhanced Wherever There Is Light EP is a rare and beautiful thing from the band Uncut memorably described as 'Britain's most underrated sorrowful sonic architects'.

แจ้งข่าวอัลบั้มใหม่ของ Porcupine Tree ครับ อัลบั้มใหม่นี้มีชื่อว่า The Incident จะวางจำหน่ายในวันที่ 21 กันยายน 2009 นี้ครับ อัลบั้มนี้เป็นอัลบั้มคู่ แผ่นซีดีแรกเป็นเพลงยาวแทร็คเดียว ความยาว 55 นาที ที่ชื่อ The Incident นั่นแหละครับ โดยทางวงอธิบายถึงเพลงนี้ไว้ว่า "a slightly surreal song cycle about beginnings and endings and the sense that ‘after this, things will never be the same again’" ส่วนแผ่นซีดีที่สองจะประกอบด้วยสี่เพลง Flicker, Bonnie the Cat, Black Dahlia และ Remember Me Lover โดยเพลงเหล่านี้จะถูกตัดออกมาในรูปแบบของ EP เพื่อลด "ความเครียด" จาก Song Cycle ของเพลงเหล่านี้ด้วย

ฟังดูน่าสนใจ แต่ก็หวั่นๆ กับคำว่า Cycle อยู่เหมือนกัน บางคนก็ไม่ชอบเพลงอย่าง Anesthetize จากอัลบั้ม Fear of ... ก็กลัวว่าจะออกมาในแนวๆ นั้นอีกน่ะสิครับ

เพลง Anesthetize เป็นเพลงที่ผมชอบที่สุดใน FOABP ครับ

จริงๆ แล้ว Anesthetize ก็เป็นเพลงโปรดของผมเหมือนกันครับ เพียงแต่ผมได้ยินบางคนบ่นว่าเพลงมันวนเกินไป ฟังแล้วน่าเบื่อมาบ้างเหมือนกัน เพลงนี้เป็นกระดูกสันหลังของอัลบั้ม Fear of ... เลยนะครับ

อัลบั้มชุดใหม่นี่ขอให้ดีกว่า Fear of ... ก็พอใจแล้ว ;D

ถ้าหากมันดีเทียบเท่า Fear of a Blank Planet ก็ดีใจแทบแย่แล้วครับ เพราะสำหรับผมแล้ว Fear of... คืออัลบั้มของ Porcupine Tree ที่ผมถูกใจที่สุดและคิดว่าสมบูรณ์แบบที่สุดแล้ว และมันก็เป็นอัลบั้มที่มีอิทธิพลต่อชีวิตและความคิดสร้างสรรค์ของผมเป็นอันดับต้นๆเลย (รองจาก Up ของ Peter Gabriel ครับ)

จริงๆ แล้วก็เป็นมุกครับ คือผม Rank อัลบั้ม Fear of ... ไว้สูงมาก คือให้เป็นอัลบั้มที่ดีที่สุดของ PT เสียด้วยซ้ำ แล้วก็มีความชื่นชอบอัลบั้มนี้เหมือนกับเหม่ง และคิดว่าผมสมบูรณ์แบบมาก ผมเลยแซวไปว่า ถ้าอัลบั้มนี้ดีกว่า Fear of ... ก็คงจะสุดยอดไปเลยครับ

Concept

    “There was a sign saying ‘POLICE – INCIDENT’ and everyone was slowing down to rubber neck to see what had happened... Afterwards, it struck me that ‘incident’ is a very detached word for something so destructive and traumatic for the people involved. And then I had the sensation that the spirit of someone that had died in the accident entered into my car and was sitting next to me. “The irony of such a cold expression for such seismic events appealed to me, and I began to pick out other ‘incidents’ reported in the media and news,” continues Wilson. “I wrote about the evacuation of teenage girls from a religious cult in Texas, a family terrorizing its neighbors, a body found floating in a river by some people on a fishing trip, and more. Each song is written in the first person and tries to humanize the detached media reportage."

Bass Communion - Litany EP
 
Following a series of vinyl editions of the previously released bass communion albums Ghosts on Magnetic Tape, Bass Communion II and Haze Shrapnel, Tonefloat presents its first release containing new (solo) recordings by Steven Wilson's ongoing experiments with drones and ambient music, and sounds in general. Litany is taken from new bass communion recordings using choral/vocal samples and looping techniques. These experiments may lead to a full album at some stage, but in the meantime about 23 minutes of work in progress will be out late july as a 2-track 12inch EP.

The ep comes in a stylish bass communion cardboard type sleeve designed by Carl Glover and will be available in limited editions of 1000 copies on black 180 grams vinyl and 250 copies on coloured 180 grams vinyl.

no-man - Mixtaped Launch Event
August 22nd, The Rosemary Branch Theatre, Islington, London

20 years after performing its debut concert at the venue, No-Man returns to The Rosemary Branch for the launch of the band's forthcoming double DVD, Mixtaped.

The presentation will consist of a special 70 minute preview of last year's Bush Hall performance (in widescreen and 5.1 surround sound), a 20 minute excerpt from the No-Man documentary Returning, and a 5.1 showing of the videos for Back When You Were Beautiful (especially commissioned for Mixtaped) and Wherever There Is Light.

There will be two screenings at 2pm and 7pm.

No-Man merchandise will be on sale and Tim Bowness, Steven Wilson and Mixtaped/Returning director Richard Smith will be in attendance at both showings.

Please note that tickets are extremely limited due to the size of the venue and no refunds can be given.

วันนี้เพิ่งจะได้ฟังโปรเจ็คของ Gavin Harrison กับ O5Ric (มือเบสประหลาด) กับอัลบั้มแรกที่ชื่อ Drops จริงๆพี่แกมีออกมาอีกชุดละนะฮะ งานออกมาเนียนทีเดียว ติดแจ๊สเล็กๆแบบ Gordian Knot แต่ไม่มีกีต้าร์เท่านั้นเอง

ได้ฟังแล้ว ไพเราะดี เสียงร้องอิดเอื้อนไปหน่อย ฟังแล้วอยากเข้านอนเลย  :D

ระหว่างที่รอชุดใหม่ของ Blackfield (ที่ไม่รู้ว่าจะออกมาเมื่อไร) ก็ลองฟังเพลง Piano อันแสนไพเราะของวงอินดี้ไทยหน้าใหม่ ArtFloor ไปพลางๆก่อนนะครับ ดนตรีเรียบง่าย แต่งดงามและลึกซึ้ง โดดเด่นด้วยเสียงเปียโนและเครื่องสาย เนื้อเพลงความหมายดีด้วย ผมฟังแล้วอยากบอกเลยว่า นี่แหละคือ Blackfield เมืองไทยของจริง  :D

ราคา 35 ปอนด์เหนาะๆ (ตายแน่ผม ฮา)

สืบเนื่องจากวิกฤตการณ์ในประเทศกรีซ ตอนนี้เงินยูโรตกเหลือประมาณ 41 บาท น่าจะลองหาจากเว็ปที่ขายเป็นเงินยูโรนะครับ

เท่าที่สังเำกตุพวกนี้มักปรับราคาตามค่าเงินปัจจุบันครับ ถ้าเจอเว็ปที่ยังไม่ปรับก็โชคดีมากเลย :D

ได้ชม Anesthetize DVD ไปแล้วครับ มิกซ์เสียงได้ดีมาก โดยเฉพาะเสียงกลองของ Gavin สดและไบร์ทดี ไม่เหมือนใน Arriving Somewhere..... ที่ดูอุดอู้และไม่ค่อยเป็นธรรมชาติเท่าใดนัก ส่วนงานด้านภาพก็ปรกติ ไม่มีอะไรมากครับ

ได้เห็นพี่ตีฟเล่นคีย์บอร์ดและร้องไปด้วยหลายเพลงเลยครับ ตอนท่อนโซโล่กลางของเพลง Anesthetize นึกว่าจะมี Alex Lifeson เดินออกมาโซโล่กีตาร์เสียอีก ไม่แน่จริงนี่พี่ตีฟ!

ดูจบแล้วสำหรับชุด Anesthetize ตัวเพลงในอัลบั้ม Fear Of A Blank Planet เล่นได้ดี แต่ขนาดเสน่ห์ซาวน์แบบในอัลบั้มก็คือ ความกังวานของมัน เหมือนกับหยดน้ำที่ตกลงมาแล้วกระจายออก การแสดงสดไม่สามารถทำให้ซาวน์ถึงแบบในซีดีได้ (ก็เทคโนโลยีสตูดิโอมันย่อมเยี่ยมกว่า) ชุดนี้เล่นกระชับดี มุมกล้องที่ดูจาก DVD คมเท่าที่ชมไฟล์ HD จาก youtube ไม่ได้ (ถึงแม้มันจะมี Blu-Ray แถมมาเพื่อบวกราคาแต่ก็ไม่มีเครื่องเล่น) สไตล์การลำดับภาพและมุมกล้องทำได้ดีตามสไตล์ของ Lasse Hoile แต่โปรดักชั่นเวทีคล้ายๆกับชุด Arriving Somewhere บางเพลงถ่ายไฟที่ฉายข้างบนดูแล้วนึกถึงคอนเสิร์ตลูกทุ่ง อยากให้วง Porcupine Tree มีเวทีใหญ่บ้างๆ ด้าน Visual Effect ก็ทำได้เข้ากับเพลง แต่ถ้าใช้ความเนียนยิ่งกว่านี้จะสุดยอดมาก

หลังจากคุยกับเหม่งมาได้สักพักแล้ว ถึงเวลาต้องรายงานกันเสียที ว่า พี่แว่นของชาวเรากับนายไมเคล โอเกอร์เฟลต์ จะทำงานด้วยกันโดยใช้ชื่อว่า Storm Corrosion นะฮับ คาดว่าคงจะออกในต้นปีหน้าแน่นอน

เป็นที่แน่นอนว่าปีนี้พี่แว่นเราจะออกสามอัลบั้มด้วยกันคือ งานเดี่ยว, Storm Corrosion และ Blackfield 3 ด้วยประการละฉะนี้...

มีออกมา 2 ชุดแล้วครับ ชุดล่าสุดเพิ่งออกมาทั้งดีวีดีและบลูเรย์ ลองค่อยๆย้อนอ่านในกระทู้ดูนะครับ แต่สำหรับผมไม่รู้เป็นไงดูการแสดงวงนี้แล้วจะหลับเสียให้ได้ เหมือนกับเพลงของเขาเหมาะที่จะใช้โสตประสาทหูอย่างเดียว พอต้องมานั่งดูด้วยแล้วมันเหมือนต้องใช้ความพยายามมากขึ้น :D

แต่้ถ้าเป็น Blackfield นี่ไม่มีปัญหาครับ ;D

ชุด Arriving Somewhere นี่ดูแล้วหลับจริง แต่ Anesthetize นี่สำหรับผมแล้วไม่นะครับ เพราะแค่ดูฝีมือการเล่นกลองของ Gavin Harrison ที่พัฒนาขึ้นกว่าเดิมเยอะก็เพลินมากแล้วครับ

เออจริง นึกว่าดูแล้วจะหลับอยู่คนเดียว มีพวกแล้ว

Blackfield is the acclaimed collaboration between Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree) and Israeli artist Aviv Geffen.

Formed after a meeting in 2000, the partnership blossomed into a cross-cultural collaboration that has already spawned two albums (Blackfield and Blackfield II). They return in March with their third album, Welcome To My DNA, following a gap of 4 years caused by both artists’ recent hectic schedules.

Porcupine Tree’s 2009 release, The Incident, is the band’s best selling album to date, and the band has continued to raise its profile around the world, recently playing sold out gigs at London’s Royal Albert Hall and New York’s Radio City Music Hall. However, Porcupine Tree is just one of Steven’s several musical projects, which also include Blackfield, No-Man, and Bass Communion. Steven is also a Grammy nominated producer and mixer working with the likes of Opeth, King Crimson, and Yoko Ono. He also co-wrote and sang a song on the recent UK number one album by Pendulum.

During the gap between albums, Aviv has released his first English language solo album (produced by Trevor Horn) and has supported U2 and Placebo. The son of esteemed Israeli poet Yehonatan Geffen and the nephew of Moshe Dayan, Geffen is Israel’s leading counter-culture rock musician. A huge star in his native country, his records have been greeted with critical adulation, earning him a string of gold albums. An outspoken peace campaigner, he controversially refused to do compulsory military service, and his lyrics have been fiercely critical of the Israeli military and their actions.

Aviv has worked with various artists, including Elbow and Belle and Sebastian, throughout his career but it has been his partnership with Steven that has proved the most fertile, and both artists have been keen to return to their work with Blackfield.

Blackfield will be on tour throughout Europe in April.

ซาวน์ผ่านแล้วครับ คีย์บอร์ดผ่านแล้ว เหลือแต่ขอฟังเมโลดี้ทั้งเพลงอย่างเดียว ถูกใจมากๆ ครับ

เท่าที่ฟังสั้นๆตอนนี้นี่เหมือนๆจะโดนเพลง Far Away มากที่สุดทั้งภาคคีย์บอร์ดที่เศร้าหมองตามสไตล์แบบ Blackfield II เพลงอื่นๆก็ดูแล้วอยู่ในมาตรฐานเดิมเลย ถ้าได้ฟังเต็มๆหลายๆรอบคงติดงอมแงมเหมือนทั้งสองอัลบั้มที่ผ่านมาอย่างไม่ต้องสงสัย

ได้ข่าวว่าน้อง Fog ให้คะแนน 10/10 ทั้งๆที่ยังไม่ได้ฟังเต็มๆ ของมันถูกหูอยู่แล้วก็งี้แหละ :D

เท่าที่ลองฟังแต่ละเพลงแบบสั้นๆ (ไปหลายรอบ!!!) สิ่งที่ผมรู้สึกได้คือ อัลบั้มนี้น่าจะมีโทนที่ "สว่าง" กว่าสองอัลบั้มที่ผ่านมาอยู่นิดนึงนะครับ แต่นั่นคงไม่ใช่ปัญหาแน่นอน เพราะเพียงแค่ฟังสั้นๆ ก็รู้แล้วว่างานนี้พวกเขาก็ยังคงประณีตและงดงามอยู่อย่างไม่เสื่อมคลาย ตอนนี้แทร๊คที่ฟังแล้วคิดว่าน่าจะชอบมากแน่ๆก็คือ Glass House, Rising of the Tide, Far Away, Blood และ Oxygen ครับ

เพลงใหม่มีมาให้ฟังเต็มๆเพลงนึงแล้วครับ อยากบอกว่าถูกใจมากๆเลย ทำนองไพเราะอ่อนหวานดีชะมัด (อารมณ์ประมาณอนิเมะของอ.มาโคโตะ ชินไคเลย) นี่ขนาดแค่ฟังในยูทูบนะเนี่ย  ;D

My second solo album is nearing completion. It will be in the form of 2 separate 40 minute albums released in the same 2 CD set, and will also come as a blu-ray with surround mix, high definition stereo and a lot of visual material (Lasse is already working hard on films for many of the songs, attached is a still from one of these we shot a couple of weeks ago to a song called "Index"). We're also planning a special Insurgentes style hard back book edition with a full length bonus CD of additional material. A year in the making, this is without doubt my biggest project to date, perhaps my most ambitious and personal music, and with some phenomenal musicians and performances on it (drummer Nic France in particular is going to blow a lot of people away). We hope a website will launch around April/May to start previewing material, with the album scheduled for September. More soon....

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback regarding my new solo record! Sorry, but Cut Ribbon once again failed to make the cut - although the 12 tracks / 84 minutes of music I've selected for the main release is quite eclectic, it has in common a pretty organic feel, mostly inspired by the darker end of vintage progressi...ve music and some movie soundtrack stuff (Morricone especially). The sound palette is made up of things like strings, choir, woodwinds, mellotron, organ, piano, fender rhodes, jazz drums, and warmer guitar tones, so the shiny metal attack of Cut Ribbon just doesn't fit. But the track is all mixed and finished and sounds good, so I'll find somewhere to release it. Definitely the album will come out on double vinyl too. Love the new Radiohead album! Here's another still from the work in progress films Lasse is working on to include on the blu-ray version of the album.

กั๊กของดีไว้นี่เอง

ผมว่าน่าจะเป็นอย่างนั้นเพราะสตีเว่น วิลสันเองก็บอกว่าอัลบั้ม Welcome to My DNA นี้ Aviv Geffen เป็นคนแต่งเพลงและทำงานซะเป็นส่วนใหญ่ ส่วนตัวเขาก็มาช่วยเหลือเพียงนิดๆหน่อยๆเท่านั้น ซึ่งต่างจากสองชุดที่ผ่านมาซึ่งทั้งคู่มีโอกาสได้ทำงานร่วมกันจริงๆมากกว่า และแถมในช่วงก่อนหน้านั้น Aviv เองก็ไปปล่อยของเต็มที่กับอัลบั้มเดี่ยวของตัวเองอย่างที่ว่า (ซึ่งขอยืนยันว่ายอดเยี่ยมไม่แพ้ Blackfield สองชุดก่อนหน้าเลย) ทำให้เพลงจาก Welcome to My DNA นั้นเหมือนเป็นเพลงเหลือใช้เท่านั้น (แต่ก็ยังฟังดูดีนะครับ)

สรุปแล้วยังไงผมก็สั่งทั้ง Welcome to My DNA ทั้งงานเดี่ยวของ Aviv Geffen แหละครับ  :D

The new solo album website will probably launch in early June now. The music is done, but we're still working on film material and the deluxe edition. It's presented as two 40-45 minute albums in the same package (which begs the question; when is a double album not a double album? When it's 2 single albums issued together!) The album titles are "Deform to Form a Star" and "Like Dust I Have Cleared From My Eye".

During a recent online question-and-answer session with fans, PORCUPINE TREE's Steven Wilson was asked to clarify his previous statement that the musical output of STORM CORROSION, his much-anticipated collaboration project with OPETH's Mikael Åkerfeldt will be "the opposite of metal."

"It's very hard to describe this music as it is so different from most things around right now (at least as far as I know)," Wilson explained. "I said it was the 'opposite of metal' because I think a lot of people might have assumed from the two people involved that this would be some kind of progressive/metal thing, but in fact it's quite a minimal album with a lot of space and beauty, orchestral and organic, hardly any drums and no distorted guitars — 'twisted beautiful' is the best way I can describe it."

STORM CORROSION last year completed work on its self-titled debut album for a tentative April release through Roadrunner Records. Apart from Mikael and Steven, the CD includes guest appearances by Gavin Harrison (PORCUPINE TREE) on drums/percussion, Ben Castle on woodwinds and Dave Stewart on string arrangements.

In an interview with Metal Injection conducted on November 11, 2011 at the Best Buy Theater in New York City, Wilson was asked how STORM CORROSION is different from his previous collaborations with Åkerfeldt. "Well, the only stuff I've collaborated with Mikael on in the past has been working on his records," Wilson replied. "This is obviously a collaboration, so it's a different approach. We sat in a room together and we wrote music together, rather than taking his music that he'd already written and working it into a record. We actually started from the very basics — composition and arranging."

He continued, "If you'd asked me three months ago about the music, I would have said, 'Expect the last thing you would expect.' But actually, now that [OPETH's new record] 'Heritage' has come out and [Steven Wilson's solo album] 'Grace Of Drowning' has come out, I don't think it's going to be that much of a shock to people, because it's almost like a third part of the trilogy, in a way. If anything, it's even more orchestral, even more stripped down, even more dark, twisted and melancholic… but it certainly feels like it comes from the same place as 'Heritage' and 'Grace For Drowning', which indeed it does because it was written during the same period — it was written during a period that he was playing the tracks that he'd written for 'Heritage' and I was playing the tracks that I had written for 'Grace Of Drowning'. So we were kind of, in a way, egging each other on, encouraging each other to do those particular records, but also at the same time coming up with this music that is now gonna be on STORM CORROSION. So it's a very orchestral record, it's very — as you'd expect — epic, the songs are quite long and they develop in quite unusual ways."

He concluded, "I'm realistic that half the people are gonna hate it and half the people probably will fall in love with it. I'd be happy with that anyway."

Although former DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy was initially supposed to be part of the STORM CORROSION project, he did not take part in the recording sessions for the CD. "To be honest, there's just no room for drums on what we've done," Åkerfeldt told Classic Rock magazine last year. "I called Mike up, and he was cool about it. He's got so much going on anyway, and I'm sure we will work together in the future."
