Confusion will be my epitaph (จากเพลง Epitaph ในอัลบั้ม In the Court of the Crimson King ของ King Crimson)

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends
We're so glad you could attend
Come inside, come inside
(จากเพลง Karn Evil 9, First Impression Part 2 ในอัลบั้ม Brain Salad Surgery ของ ELP)

- Spurn all ye kindle and cradle his sweet pleasure

คงไม่มีทางเข้าใจความหมายประโยคนี้ในเพลง To the Runner จาก Olias of Sunhillow ของ Jon Anderson แต่ชอบมากครับ

- The sands of time were eroded by the river of constant change

จากเพลง Firth of Fifth ของ Genesis

I'll wait a thousand years
Just to see you smile again"

Virgin land of forest green, dark and stormy plains, here all life abounds
Sunlit valley, mountain fields, unseen in the rain, here all life abounds...

Painted desert, sequined sky, stars that fill the night, here all life abounds
Rivers flowing to the sea, sunshine pure and bright, here all life abounds...

Across the sea there came a multitude, sailing ships upon the wave
Filled with visions of Utopia, and the freedom that they crave
Ravage, plunder, see no wonder, rape and kill and tear asunder
Chop the forest, plow it under.....

Highways scar the mountainsides, buildings to the sky, people all around
Houses stand in endless rows, sea to shining sea, people all around
So we rule this land, and here we stand upon our paradise,
Dreaming of a place, our weary race is ready to arise

"Worlds atomize and oceans evaporate in eternity!
Man erects out of the darkness,
laughs into the glimmering light and disappears..."

I Talk To The Wind ในอัลบั้ม In The Court Of The Crimson King (1969) ของ King Crimson

.................................
.................................
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear
.................................
.................................

Confusion will be my epitaph (จากเพลง Epitaph ในอัลบั้ม In the Court of the Crimson King ของ King Crimson)

Lucky Man (by Emerson Lake and Palmer)

He had white horses
And ladies by the score
All dressed in satin
And waiting by the door
Ooh, what a lucky man he was
Ooh, what a lucky man he was
White lace and feathers
They made up his bed
A gold covered mattress
On which he was laid
Ooh, what a lucky man he was
Ooh, what a lucky man he was
He went to fight wars
For his country and his king
Of his honor and his glory
The people would sing
Ooh, what a lucky man he was
Ooh, what a lucky man he was
A bullet had found him
His blood ran as he cried
No money could save him
So he laid down and he died
Ooh, what a lucky man he was
Ooh, what a lucky man he was

เพลงสุดท้ายจากอัลบั้มชุดแรกของ Emerson Lake and Palmer ผมเคยอ่านเจอที่ไหนสักแห่งว่าเพลงนี้ Greg Lake (R.I.P.)

The Turn Of A Friendly Card ของ The Alan Parsons Project

Part I

................................................................
................................................................
And the game never ends when your whole world depends
On the turn of a friendly card

Nothing Left To Lose

..................................................................
..................................................................
You gave the best you had to give
You only have one life to live
You fought so hard you were a slave
After all you gave there was nothing left to save
.................................................................
.................................................................
Nothing ventured nothing gained
No more lingering doubt remained
.................................................................

But day after day
The show must go on
And time slipped away
Before you could build any Castles in Spain
The chance had gone by

Day After Day (The Show Must Go On) ของ The Alan Parsons Project

มีสำนวนที่น่าสนใจอยู่ในเพลงท่อนนี้ คือ build castles in Spain (in the air) ซึ่งแปลว่า "สร้างวิมานในอากาศ (ในฝัน)" ครับ

เพลง The Winter Long จากอัลบั้ม Hero and Heroine (1974) ของ Strawbs

Still waters flow
Sea breezes blow
Wild flowers grow
Abundant at your feet.

Soft falling snow
Warm candle glow
Flushed faces show
The pleasure when we meet.

Hold on to me, I'll hold on to you
The winter long I will always be with you.
Hold on to me, I'll hold on to you
I will be the one who will always see you through.

Action! (Butterfly III)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-jhyu9F6Xw

The hammer cannot rap you
The hammer cannot pry
But in the hand of a judge
You either live or die
Live or die
You either live or die

Marillion

Lavenders blue, dilly dilly, lavenders green
When I am king, dilly dilly
You will be queen
A penny for your thoughts my dear
