We'd like to send out some more details with regards to the Thailand gathering we're organising for those that expressed some interest. So if you're interested in knowing more, read on:
The ETHOS of the Gathering
There is no reason for us to do this other than FOR THE SHEER JOY IN IT! We cannot make money, no one else will see it. It is one 'just for us', the band and fans... So this may work out cheaper than you imagine.
Please ask any specific questions you may have, but here are MORE COSTING DETAILS, followed by more details of the EVENT itself:
GETTING THERE
1) YOU MAKE YOUR OWN WAY TO AND FROM PHUKET ISAND
We are looking at group discounts and even plane charter (someone has come forward with a possible offer), but the following price guides are based on commercial airline fares:
a) Unless you can find a direct flight to Phuket, you will need to get a return ticket to Bangkok.
From Europe this can be anywhere between £400 and £650 depending on the airline you choose.
b) You will also need either a connecting flight to Phuket (approx £120 return).

2) CHECK-IN to THE EVASON HOTEL for the 3 nights of the Gathering. This will be pre-booked by us well in advance. We will already be there to welcome you.

You will pay the hotel directly your accommodation. At The Evason you can choose from 8 different kinds of room :

For a Studio room, very beautiful, it works out at £74 a night (£222 for 3 nights).
Or at the top end of the scale, if you fancy a Pool Villa Suite (amazing) that costs £362 per night (£1086 for 3 nights).
These prices include a very good breakfast.
The hotel manager, Frank, has agreed to extend these terms to anyone who wants to stay some extra nights.
NB We can recommend a number of other good options for furthering your holiday in Southern Thailand to suit all budgets.
From very cheap beach huts on perfect white beaches to luxury hideaways in private places. (£20 per night upwards)
If you let us know your plans, we can help. It makes sense to spend a little extra time in this fantastic country.
MEALS
3) WE ARE NEGOTIATING A PRICE FOR EVENING MEALS as they are part of the Event, for example the BBQ on Bon Island and Dinner before the main concert on the island.
These will be heavily discounted. Details to follow.
At the end of the hotel's driveway (10 min walk) are street restaurants and shops where you can eat and drink well for £5 per person.
EVENT COSTS
4) THERE WILL BE A BASIC TICKET PRICE for the Red Box-related aspects of the Gathering which will give you access to all the gigs, workshops and events. We will keep this as low as possible, to simply cover costs. The more people who come, the cheaper the 3-day ticket will be! But it will be a pretty small proportion of your overall costs.
It must be said that we're viewing this whole enterprise as a non-profit making venture.
The ticket price for the 'Event' will be set according to overall cost and numbers attending.
If, however, we do not get enough people, the whole event wouldn't really be viable.
So it depends on the response from fans. We will keep you posted.
THE RED BOX EVENT
This is how we think the two day/three night Gathering would be arranged:
EVENING ONE
We thought it best to treat the first evening as a casual 'meet and greet' evening with a few drinks and get to know each other. If you have just travelled, you will be tired, so an early night.
DAY TWO
Mostly a leisure day for our guests, maybe spending time with the band in the AM and for lunch. We will be asking you what you want to hear, who you want to talk to etc. while we are together.
Then the band will need to set up the PA etc from about 3pm for the evening Electric Concert, so our guests will relax in the hotel.
EVENING TWO
We will be playing a fully plugged concert on the beach at Koh Bon, the Evason's private island 2km from the hotel. You will have dinner by the sea at the hotel before being taken, after dark, by hotel boat to the island. It will be a very rustic feel, but technically a full concert with our PA rig and lighting - only we will be barefoot on the sand.
This will be recorded and filmed. (We will, band and guests alike, also have less formal footage of the 3 days)
DAY THREE
Leisure day with Red Box 'join-in' workshops about recording the albums and songwriting, one-on-one time with each instrumentalist. Then perhaps some snorkelling or sailing at Bon Island.
Where we will stay after sunset for....
EVENING THREE
BBQ Acoustic Beach Party on Koh Bon. The band will play a full acoustic set and take Requests (within reason!)
